A few days ago, Mercedes-Benz officially filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. In accordance with the relevant requirements, Mercedes-Benz will voluntarily recall some EQC vehicles with a production date from November 30, 2018 to December 15, 2021, with the recall scheduled to begin August 15, 2022.
Recall documents issued by Mercedes-Benz show that due to supplier production deviations, the cooling system in the electric drive module of some EQC vehicles may have insufficient sealing or will cause coolant leakage.
When a fault occurs, the vehicle combination will prompt a corresponding warning message. Extreme conditions may result in a decrease in the output power of the vehicle's electric drive module or the failure of the vehicle to start. When the above extremes occur, it will not affect driving safety.
As a precautionary measure, Mercedes-Benz will check the production serial number of the electric drive module one by one for the vehicles within the scope of the recall through the authorized dealer, and if the production sequence number is within the affected range, the electric drive module will be replaced free of charge to eliminate the hidden danger.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC recall due to the problem of electric drive system has long been foreshadowed.
Since the second half of last year, a large number of EQC car owners have reported through various channels that their cars have motor failures, cannot drive, and even have incidents of sudden loss of power during driving. Some dealers give the claim that the motor coolant pipe is damaged, the coolant penetrates into the copper wire part of the motor and causes the motor to fail, and the solution given is to replace the corresponding electric drive system. If the problem occurs outside the warranty period, the maintenance cost is expected to be as high as 100,000 yuan, and the order repair time is longer.
Therefore, some Mercedes-Benz EQC owners launched a joint statement asking Mercedes-Benz officials to give a clear solution.
As the first pure electric vehicle launched by Mercedes-Benz in China, EQC was once one of the few luxury-grade pure electric SUV in the market, and it focused on safety and reliability design.
