Some people say: In everyone's heart, there lives a little prince.
Today, I will interpret the novel of the French writer Saint-Exupéry - "The Little Prince".
The book is second only to the Bible in sales and is described by Zhou Guoping as "a natural jade".
Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince has been loved by a wide range of readers since its publication.
The author uses the innocent perspective of a child to show the complexity and absurdity of the adult world.
This is not only a fairy tale novel for children, but also a true story for adults.
The preface to The Little Prince reads:
"All adults are children at first, but few remember."
In the process of growing up, it will bring about forgetting, bring parting, but it will never be able to dispel loneliness.
As the snake in the book says, one person will be lonely, and a group of people will be lonely, which is inevitable.
Learning to enjoy solitude is the practice of everyone's life.
Loneliness is the norm in life
On asteroid B612, there is a little prince.
He is the only inhabitant of the planet, and his daily job is to clean the volcano, identify the seedlings of the baobab tree, and then pull it out to prevent it from growing in a flood and endangering the entire planet.
He was a little kid, but he wasn't what we thought of as a kid.
He had no toys, no playmates, and was alone facing the vast starry sky.
Perhaps it was because of this situation that he stubbornly wanted a lamb that could be brought back to the planet.
In the face of the occasional pilot, he tirelessly tells his story, from the planet he lives to the travels, as if to finish a lifetime of words.
The little prince in the book once said, "One day I watched forty-four sunsets. ”
For many people, watching the sunrise and sunset seems to be a very romantic thing.
And for the little prince, watching the sunset is a sad thing, and that is only his way of discharging loneliness when he is lonely.
After leaving his homeland, the little prince visited 6 planets along the way.
But without exception, there is only one person on every planet, as if to speak of loneliness silently.
In fact, in recent years, the term "loneliness" has always been high.
Some people sit on the subway eating cake and living a person's birthday; some people have nowhere to tell because of the constant oppression of their superiors, and can only hide and secretly cry.
They may be lonely for different reasons, but the feelings of loneliness are the same.
As Richard Yates writes in Eleven Kinds of Solitude:
"People are lonely, no one can escape, and that's their tragedy."
Looking at the people the little prince met during his travels, it seems that they are the most real, lonely but helpless.
Márquez once said:
"Life has never been left alone and independent.
Whether we are born, we grow, we fall in love, or we succeed or fail, until the end, loneliness exists like a shadow in a corner of life. ”
In a person's life, it is inevitable that there will always be times of loneliness.
The difference is more or less between our choices in this situation.
In fact, the terrible thing is never loneliness, but the self that is willing to degenerate in loneliness.
Loneliness is the norm of life, and only by facing loneliness can we face a more authentic self.
Escaping loneliness will gradually lose yourself
One day, a seed came from the little prince's planet, and she sprouted, but never blossomed.
After about a few days, after satisfying the little prince's appetite, Rose revealed her true face.
In the long night, roses and the little prince began to be companions.
But things don't look like everyone is happy.
In order to make the little prince's heart only herself, Rose began to toss the little prince non-stop.
She hated the wind, and every evening the little prince would put her in a glass cover; she pretended to cough, and the little prince was heartbroken.
In fact, the reason why Rose calculates this way is that in the final analysis, it is because she is afraid of loneliness and wants to escape loneliness.
In her opinion, only by getting the attention of the little prince can she get long-term companionship and no longer be alone.
But in the end, he lost his original simple heart and lost the little prince.
And for the little prince, the rose was the first visitor in his lonely life.
He was afraid that Rose would leave, so he did everything he could to please her and do everything he could to satisfy her.
When there is fear in one's heart, the knee-jerk reaction is to escape and cater to others.
In A Room of Your Own, it is written:
"In the process of constantly escaping loneliness, we are domesticated by the circle, gradually losing ourselves and becoming the person that others expect, not ourselves." 」
Escaping loneliness, blindly pandering to others, and looking down on yourself will only gradually lose yourself.
Someone said, "People who have never been truly lonely do not have the ability to love themselves." ”
Accepting the true self is the premise of self-love, and blindly escaping does not understand the real self.
Many times, avoiding loneliness also avoids the possibility of seeing oneself and developing oneself in loneliness.
"I hope to have a friend" is the original intention of the little prince's travels, but it has become an obsession in the long loneliness.
Admittedly, everyone needs companionship, it can be the icing on the cake, it can be a charcoal in the snow, but it should not be a life-saving straw to grasp when escaping loneliness.
As Yu Feihong once said on the show:
"The solution to loneliness is to become a better version of yourself, not to find another lonely person."
Enjoy solitude and live a better version of yourself
The 5th planet visited by the little prince, there was only one lamp man and his lamp.
Turning off the lights in the morning and turning on the lights at night is the rule of the planet, and it is also the daily work of the lamp holder.
But what puzzled the little prince was what the use of street lamps and palm lamp people on a planet with neither houses nor inhabitants was.
This seems to be a misunderstanding of the little prince's life, and it is not just the relationship that needs each other to make sense.
Although no one can understand the intentions of the lamp holder, he has found the meaning of his own survival alone, not for others, but for the rules he insists on in his heart.
Schopenhauer once said:
"Only when a person is lonely can he be completely himself."
You don't have to live for others, you don't have to cater to the standards of the outside world, and you don't have to set out better for the goals in your heart.
Douban's high-scoring drama "Lonely Foodie" has been carried out to the ninth season, but it is still not tired of watching.
The protagonist, Goro, is a middle-aged single uncle who runs a grocery store alone.
As the title suggests, he is an extremely lonely man, working alone and living alone.
He always threw himself into the shops on the street after finishing his work, undisturbed by anyone and without the company of others, and enjoyed the impact and healing of food.
And it is precisely because he has learned to get along with himself that he will feel full and satisfied with the matter of eating alone.
The process of loneliness is a process of purifying the soul, and people who like to be alone are full of spirit and strong in heart.
Loneliness is everywhere, but it can also be unique and beautiful.
So, when you are not accompanied, don't think about how to escape loneliness, learn to be kind to yourself, get along with loneliness, and enjoy this journey.

We can learn to enjoy solitude, use the time alone, follow our hearts, do what we like, constantly enrich ourselves, and live a better life.

The story of "The Little Prince" is only tens of thousands of words, but it seems to be written about loneliness.
Watching the sunset, dressing up as a king, and counting the stars sounds absurd but sad.
Someone on the Internet has classified loneliness into levels, a person shopping is low level, a person watching movies is advanced, and a person doing surgery is a collapse level.
It seems that after enduring all the loneliness, you will become invincible.
The writer Mader once said:
"It's scary to endure loneliness. When you see people who enjoy solitude, you are not afraid at once. ”
Loneliness is like a shadow, even in the crowd, can not really get rid of.
That being the case, we might as well regard loneliness as a kind of enjoyment, a kind of practice.
In our own time, we can sort out our own thoughts, let ourselves see the current situation more clearly, summarize the past, plan the future, and let ourselves precipitate and grow.
