About the Author

Jiu Hesheng, of the Lisu ethnic group, was born on May 5, 1977 in Nipro Village, Gudeng Township, Lushui City, Yunnan Province. He is a member of the Chinese Writers Association, a student of the 12th Senior Seminar for Young and Middle-Aged Writers (Ethnic Minority Writers Class) of Lu Xun Literature Institute, and a member of the 12th Nujiang Prefecture Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He joined the army in December 1996 and served in the 73rd Detachment of Unit 77273 of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and was demobilized in December 2001. He is currently working for the Lisu Research Committee of the Yunnan Provincial Ethnic Society.

So far, his works have been published in "People's Literature", "Ethnic Literature", "Poetry Journal", "Literature and Art Daily", "Frontier Literature", "Yunnan Daily", "Fangcao", "Times", "Shandong Literature", "Dianchi", "Baijia", "Poetry Tide", etc., and he has authored six poetry collections such as "I Am Humble to Every Grass and Tree". He has won the "Nomination Award" of the Second Top Ten Youths of Nujiang Prefecture, the second prize of the "Four Ones" Literature Category of the Fifth Migrant Workers Cultural Festival in Yunnan Province, and the poetry collection "I Am Humble to Every Grass and Tree" was shortlisted for the 12th National Ethnic Minority Literary Creation "Horse Award".
