The test is also very simple, driving Versailles at a normal speed in the city, we do not have a fixed speed, because when driving in the city, the speed is always high and low. Then I opened the decibel meter of the mobile app, and then I stopped talking.
Driving for 30 seconds to 1 minute or so, we take a screenshot. In order to make a simple comparison, I drove my own Magotan over to make a simple comparison. We can get a rough idea of what level of noise reduction is in Versailles.
Regarding the decibel test, I would like to say a few words first, that is, the decibel is not set in stone, it is constantly changing with the speed of our driving, so when the final screenshot is taken, the average decibel number is a better reference standard.
When Versailles was driving for 30 seconds to 1 minute, I took a screenshot, and the screenshot finally showed that the minimum decibel was 58, the largest was 93, and the average decibel was 89.
We switched to the Magotan, which was purchased in 2016 and had just been maintained at the 4S shop a month ago, so the car was still in good condition.
The Magotan also traveled for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, and the screenshot showed that the minimum was 56, the maximum was 105, and the average decibel was 92. If we compare the two graphs, we can see that The Minimum Decibel Count of The Magotan is lower, at only 56. The minimum at Versailles is 58. In the highest decibel, Magen is 105 and Versailles is 89. The Magotan's is bigger.
But for this non-rigorous test result, it is also expected, because The Magotan is not a new car, it has been bought for many years. Versailles is the new car. In general, the noise of new cars is definitely lower, but after the mileage of old cars is longer, the noise will become slightly louder.
Many friends think that the noise in the car is relatively large after buying a car, and will go to a special after-sales shop to do sound insulation, usually to remove the vehicle seat first, and then wrap the chassis with soundproof cotton. So does this sound insulation and noise reduction have an effect?
To put it simply, there is no effect!
First of all, the noise source of the car is multifaceted, it may be tire noise, wind noise, tire noise, different noise sources should have different targeted sound insulation methods. For example, if the tire noise is very large, then changing a silent tire may be solved. There is no need to do the sound insulation of the whole vehicle. Then if the wind noise is relatively large, then simply adding a ring of sealing strips to the door frame in the car can also be solved. So if you blindly soundproof, then you will certainly not achieve good results.
Secondly, when the car is developing, how to sound insulation and noise reduction has been fully considered in the laboratory, and I have been to many automobile research and development centers and anechoic laboratories. Inside is an absolutely quiet state, there is a test drive in the middle, there is a dummy inside the test drive, the sides of the dummy simulate the position of the ear, there will be a microphone class to pick up the noise.
That is to say, when manufacturers develop new cars, the purpose is to minimize the noise heard by your ears, rather than to completely wrap the vehicle to reduce noise. So if you're driving, the front and rear seats, the noise you can hear is different.
Third, for noise, the way of propagation is transmitted through very small apertures, for example, a very thick wall, but there is a small hole in the wall, then the noise is transmitted through the small hole. No matter how thick the wall is, as long as the small holes are present, the noise is indispensable. Therefore, the use of soundproof cotton, no matter how thick the wall is, is not much use.
So after you buy a new car, there is no need to do sound insulation and noise reduction, the state of the factory, may not be the best state of sound insulation, but it is definitely the most balanced state.
