Once he became famous, Daniel quickly noticed that privacy was the only thing he couldn't afford. Wherever he went, dozens of paparazzi would follow with their flashes, disturbing him and everyone he tried to hang out with.

So he came up with a plan and explained it to Jay Renault in 2007:

I would wear the same dress every time, with a different T-shirt inside, but I would wear the same jacket and then pull up the zipper so they couldn't see what I was wearing inside, and the same hat. So they can take pictures for six months, but it looks like it's the same day. They became unable to post, which is interesting because there's nothing better than seeing the paparazzi get really frustrated.

There was a moment of hysteria, and my "stage door outfit," as it put it, ended up in a fashion article in the newspaper, like a dirty old hat and an unwashed jacket of age, and somehow it got in there. I am very proud.

While it worked well and annoyed most paparazzi, some still managed to get a photo here and there that was worth taking a magazine photo, like the ones Daniel was angry at the paparazzi for taking pictures of him while he was eating.
