According to the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Notice of the Quality Development Bureau, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled some domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles.
The recalled vehicles were produced between December 28, 2020 and January 15, 2022, and the quantity is approximately 26,000 units.
According to the AQA notice, the reason for the recall is that there are safety hazards in the accessories manufactured by Tesla's suppliers, and the strength of the front and rear steering knuckles may not meet the design requirements.
During the use of these vehicles, the steering knuckle may be deformed or broken, and in the case of extreme stress, the suspension linkage may also be detached from the knuckle, affecting the control of the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of accident.
The reason for the recall is that some vehicles produced during this period will have slight movements when the heat pump electronic expansion valve is positioned, because the software (2021.44 to 2021.44.30.6 version) has no correction function, and long-term driving may cause the valve to be partially opened, so that the heat pump compressor stops working and the heating function in the car fails.
When the temperature outside the car is lower than -10 °C, the defrosting system of the windshield does not operate to achieve the defrosting effect stipulated by the relevant national laws and regulations. The decrease in defrosting can adversely affect the driver's field of vision, increasing the risk of collisions when the vehicle is driving in cold weather.
It is reported that Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will notify the relevant users by registered letter, email, etc., and check the front and rear steering knuckles of the vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, and replace the steering knuckles that do not meet the strength standards.
