During the peak period of the Spring Festival in 2022, the traffic of an important highway section in Guangdong Province increased by about 10% compared with the usual day, and increased by about 25% compared with the same period in 2021. In the face of problems such as the high traffic caused by the frequent blockage of vehicles and the frequent occurrence of accidents, high-speed traffic supervisors need to quickly find and deal with traffic accidents, and timely formulate and implement diversion measures to ensure the safety and smoothness of the road.
In order to cope with the pressure of the Spring Festival, the highway section company launched a newly upgraded and deployed intelligent traffic supervision system on the eve of the Spring Festival, in which the traffic intelligent analysis platform independently developed by China Unicom undertook the intelligent detection and early warning tasks of the road surveillance video, and completely solved the problems of omission or untimely discovery of manual monitoring events caused by the multi-faceted highway points, continuous process and dynamic changes.
Since 2019, the high-speed road section has been piloting the deployment of China Unicom's traffic intelligent analysis platform, and after gradually verifying the technological advancement, system reliability and cost controllability, the 10-kilometer core road section was selected in December 2021 to complete the construction of ai video event detection at the front end of one road and one bridge. The video data of the main line capture camera and the high-definition dome machine is aggregated and connected to the platform, supplemented by an IP broadcasting system covering the field, which realizes the intelligent transformation and upgrading of the original traffic monitoring system.
Unicom's self-developed AI traffic algorithm can quickly and accurately identify more than ten events such as serious accidents, traffic congestion, abnormal parking, road surface spillage, smoke and fire, pedestrians and non-motorized vehicle intrusions, etc. for various types of surveillance video data on the front end, and complete real-time alarms and pop-up window prompts, and report the disposal information to the customer business platform to form a closed loop of disposal. After nearly two months of system operation inspection, the algorithm identification accuracy rate reached 97% (including poor visibility at night), which greatly improved the timeliness of road anomaly detection. The product greatly reduces the work intensity of regulators, improves the efficiency of accident handling and scheduling, and at the same time can release and guide the owner of the car in a timely manner through the field broadcast, which has been highly recognized by the operation and management personnel of all parties.
The application scenarios of China Unicom's traffic intelligent analysis platform cover highways and other road networks at all levels, providing capabilities such as road condition perception analysis, traffic parameter estimation, intelligent event early warning, video quality diagnosis, and rapid emergency disposal. The product focuses on intelligent detection, accurate retrieval and statistical analysis of traffic incidents, real-time alarms for high-speed violations and safety hazards, eliminates major hidden dangers such as secondary accidents, and realizes truly intelligent traffic control.
