Synopsis

This book is the final monograph of the National Social Science Foundation's key project "History of Chinese Science Fantasy Novels in the 20th Century". In the 20th century, Chinese science fiction underwent a historical process of ups and downs, evolution, transformation and eventual maturity. During this period, the genre of literature has grown from scratch, the ranks of writers have grown from small to large, works have changed from scarce to inexhaustible, and social influences have undergone complex changes. This book sorts out the five periods of the history of Chinese science fiction in the 20th century - the development of science fiction in the late Qing Dynasty, the development of science fiction in the Republic of China, the development of early science fiction in the Republic, the development of science fiction in the new period and the development of science fiction at the turn of the century, respectively, introducing the creative background, basic appearance and representative writers' works of each period, and comprehensively reflecting the development process of Chinese science fiction in the 20th century and the works and creative genres of important writers.
