On February 10, the Chinese, English and French editions of The Great Wall of Beijing were first released in Beijing, telling the culture of the Great Wall in a global, historical and future context. The book has been listed as a free reading list for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and more than 10,000 copies in three languages have been delivered to the Beijing Winter Olympic Village, the main media center, the 2022 Beijing News Center and the media reception stations in various competition areas, and the Winter Olympic athletes have become the first readers.
Lian Yuming, editor-in-chief of The Great Wall of Beijing and president of the Beijing International Urban Development Research Institute, said that the book reveals the wisdom of the contribution of China's excellent traditional culture represented by the Great Wall culture to the world with the concept of "mutual learning among civilizations and the beauty of each other", and explains the beauty of the Great Wall in multiple languages. Through the Winter Olympics, the development concept of the Chinese nation of "valuing harmony and taking culture as a person" will be displayed to the world, and the value pursuit of "beauty and commonality and world unity" will be conveyed. It is understood that since 2015, the research team has begun to investigate the Beijing Great Wall Cultural Belt and continue to carry out follow-up research.
The Chinese, English and French editions of The Great Wall of Beijing are jointly researched, compiled, translated and published by the Beijing International Urban Development Research Institute, the Beijing International Urban Cultural Exchange Foundation, the Joint Science Press, and the French EDP Publishing House, and are supported and guided by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee.
