He then left Capcom to create Tango Gameworks, now owned by Bethesda, where Mikami began his new horror series, The Evil Within. After the sequel came out, the team began work on Ghost Line: Tokyo, which will debut on the PlayStation 5 and PC on March 25.

While Mikami's mind may have focused on Tokyo's monster-filled streets, that didn't stop him from recalling his best-known horror series, Resident Evil. In an interview with Newsweek, Mikami explained that he thought It was possible that Resident Evil 4 could be improved through a remake. More specifically, he said that if rumors of Capcom's remake of Resident Evil 4 were true, he would not only welcome it, but hope it would improve the story he helped write in the original.

It's surprising to hear the original producers of Resident Evil 4 say this, especially considering that the game is still well received today. Still, he goes on to say, the team at the time had less than three weeks to conceive the entire game's story.

"The game itself is close to perfection, but we only have two and a half weeks to make this story, so I have a different opinion," Mikami said, "just not enough time to make it better, and if time allows, it will definitely be more perfect."

Later in the interview, Mikami said that since he left Capcom in 2006, Capcom had made Resident Evil 4 even better.

"Every time they re-release the old Resident Evil 4 on a new platform, something new is applied to it and it's given some polish," he said. "I think they did a very good job. They've been very good at growing this IP and making sure it adapts to the market. It's a great thing."

Intuition tells us that if the rumored remake is true, Resident Evil 4 fans won't want Capcom to deviate too far from the original story. However, only time will tell.
