Capcom announced that The Worldwide Sale of Devil May Cry 5 has now exceeded 5 million.
"The cumulative global sales of 'DMC5' have exceeded 5 million units," the developer said on Twitter today, "thank you for your support."
In light of the news, industry veteran Benji-Sales shared how it compares to other games in the series. As it stands, the second best-selling title is Devil May Cry 4, which has sold 4.8 million copies.
At the same time, "Devil May Cry HD Episode" sold 1.2 million, and "Devil May Cry 2" sold 1.7 million.
Capcom recently revised its earnings forecast because its games are currently selling very well overall. While the developers didn't specifically point out Devil May Cry, it did celebrate the success of the Monster Hunter and Resident Evil series, and these latest numbers are certainly a boon for the company.
Many game media gave Devil May Cry 5 a recommendation tag when it was released, praising it as "the return of an old-school action game without scruples, a savage, cool, spectacular action game that is fashionable to the extreme, if not entirely fashionable."
