Buy an iPad without waiting that long! Foxconn said the shortage of parts has improved

Recently, according to Bloomberg, Apple's iPhone assembler Foxconn announced that the problem of shortage of device components in the past two years now has signs of easing.

Foxconn said that the shortage of parts in the first quarter of 2022 will show a significant improvement, and the overall supply constraints will be alleviated in the second half of this year, but the supply of power management chips will still outstrip demand.

Previously, in order to meet the large demand of users for the iPhone 13 series of mobile phones, Apple had to cut the production capacity of the iPad to maintain the production of the iPhone 13 series. Coupled with the fact that a shortage of Apple's core components hit the iPad harder, Nikkei Asia said that between September and October last year, iPad production was 50% less than Apple had originally planned. Revenue from products decreased 14.1% year-over-year in the three months to December of last year, with a total loss of approximately $7.3 billion.

Earlier, Nikkei Asia reported that Apple prioritized the production of the iPhone 13, and consumers who bought the iPad had to wait for a lead time of up to 9 weeks.

Notably, TSMC said chip supply will remain tight in 2022, and major suppliers such as Foxconn and TSMC plan to maintain larger inventories in the future to ensure security of supply.
