ESPN: Some Manchester United players think Lonnick's training is old-fashioned and are disappointed by it

According to ESPN Manchester reporter Rob Dawson, sources revealed that Manchester United players were disappointed with Lonnick's training method and considered his training to be "old-fashioned".

Confusingly, Lonnick left most of the team's training sessions to assistant coach Chris Armas. Sources revealed that some players at the training ground jokingly placed Chris Armas in the form of fictional soccer coach Ted Russo (the character is the protagonist of an American sports comedy) who parachuted in the plot to manage the fictional British team AFC Richmond. Chris Armas had never coached outside of North America before becoming a teaching assistant for Lonnick.

In addition, some players themselves have complained that Lonnick's training style is often based on 11-on-11 practice rather than dynamic practice that they think helps maintain game acuity. Much of the work currently being done on the training ground revolves around improving the organization and formation, rather than focusing on training specific skills.

Despite the players' misgivings, Lonnick's increased organizational work has paid off. The Red Devils have conceded nine goals in 12 games since he took over Manchester United, compared to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who conceded 24 goals in his last 12 games in charge.

But on the other hand, United lacked firepower on the offensive end, scoring at least two goals in just three games.
