In traditional Chinese cultural activities, there are lights to watch. The Yuanxiao Festival is the climax of watching the lights. In ancient times, the bustle and poetry of watching the lights are not to be said, only the lights of Gaoyou in recent years.
I am a native of Gaoyou City, born in the 1960s. In my impression, although the gaoyou city in the past was lit up every year, it belonged to the spontaneous cultural phenomenon of the people, and there were occasional good-looking lanterns, which did not become a climate, and there was no special highlight. The most profound is some flower lanterns and riddles in front of the Gaoyou Town Government on the old Zhongshan Road in Gaoyou District, which can still be seen.
Around the 1990s, Gaoyou County was established as a city, and the municipal government called on all units to organize lantern festivals to display traditional culture and celebrate the establishment of a city in the county. It was a climax of the High Post Lantern Festival. All units have taken action, and when the lights are on the thirteenth day of the first month, the Gaoyou City District is dazzling.
At that time, gaoyou city, the lights were mainly three lines. One line, the traditional main street of Gaoyou City, the first line of Zhongshan Road, from the north of the city north of the north gate street to the zhongshikou, all the way is a flower lantern. There are traditional rabbit, monkey and other zodiac lanterns, as well as the old people's theater, the lotus lamp in front of the cinema, the dragon boat lamp, etc., and the more wonderful is the marquee lamp in front of the Gaoyou Town Government, which transforms various scenes and triggers people's laughter.
The second line is Fuqian Street, which was also a lively place at that time, which is the seat of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, along the way there are large units such as the Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, paper mills, Gaoyou Middle School, etc., and their lanterns are also worth seeing. The third line is Tonghu Road, where there are three agricultural machinery factories, grain bureaus, industrial bureaus, people's shopping malls, etc., these units have a certain strength, and some other units of flower lanterns are also displayed here. Their lanterns are not only unique, but also send people to the scene to guard, beat gongs and drums, and the momentum is huge.
At that time, I was a middle-level cadre in a unit, and the leader gave me the task of displaying the lanterns in the unit, and I had to display the characteristic flower lanterns in the Beihai Cinema Square.
I think hard and meditate, it is difficult to do, one is that time is tight. The second is the limitation of funds. It is impossible for a unit to contribute large sums of money to operate. No way, just one word to borrow. I first went to Yangzhou University to borrow a lantern, and then took advantage of my kinship to borrow a huge tiger lantern from Yangzhou Toy Factory. Transported by large truck to Gaoyou Beihai Cinema Square. Decorated with colorful lanterns, the god is both unique and unique, and the viewer is like a tide, which has aroused a lot of admiration.
The most memorable was the lantern viewing in the Spring Festival of the Year of the Rat in 1984. Maybe it's the city's organization, and it's huge. As the saying goes, the round on the lamp falls on the lamp surface. On the day of the thirteenth day of the first month, we ate the Lantern Early and were busy going to see the lights. My pregnant wife and I went up Zhongshan Road from Beimen Avenue to watch the lanterns all the way. The mood is excellent, and the people on the street are also happy.
At about 8 p.m., the old cinema square on Zhongshan Road was already flooded and crowded. The wife was several months pregnant at this time and was worried that it was crowded and not safe. I was young and vigorous, and I thought I was very strong, so I said it was okay, I had you to protect you, and it was okay to keep it.
Therefore, we followed the flow of people south to the front of the Gaoyou Town Government, only to see the crowds of people surging and struggling. There are too many people watching the lights, perhaps the flower lights here are too wonderful. Suddenly, the crowd floated and the crowd was abnormal. By then, the crowd seemed to have gotten out of control. Some climbed to trees on the side of the road, and some climbed to houses. The situation was so critical that I did everything I could to keep my wife safe. Squeezing under a tree, I used my body to block the crowd and tried my best. My wife panicked and was terrified. After about twenty minutes, the crowd gradually loosened and then slowly dispersed. It is said that dozens of pairs of shoes were squeezed off at the scene.
Watching the lights is a relaxing and meaningful traditional cultural activity that has benefited me immensely. An emergency is just an unforgettable wave in the event. At that time, cultural activities were not yet rich, and it was particularly important to see the lights. This is also normal. Anyone can only experience a period of culture. After it is precipitated, it can truly evaluate the era of culture.
