On April 23, according to NBC, American actress Shirley Knight died at the age of 83. Her daughter revealed that Shirley had died of natural causes, at her daughter's home. Shirley Knight has twice been nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for "Spring Full of Love" and "The Darkness on the Roof".

Born in July 1936 in Kansas, Shirley Knight has been active on the Broadway stage and in several television series in addition to film. In 1975, Shirley Knight won a Tony Award for her stage play Kennedy's Children, and in 1995, she won two Emmys for the tv series "New York Major Crimes Unit" and HBO's "McMartin Trials." In addition, she has starred in "Dr. House" and "Desperate Housewives" and other dramas.
