Hulagu captures Baghdad and the Abbasid dynasty collapses [10 February]

The Abbasid dynasty (750-1258) was the second hereditary dynasty of the Arab Empire. Because the abbasid flag was still black, Chinese history books called the dynasty a "black-clad food". The Abbasid period was the golden age of Arabia, which lasted for more than 500 years.

The Abbasid royal family is a descendant of the Hashemite family of Abbas, the uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and "Hashemite" means "the one who breaks the bread", and the origin of this title is that hashemite took out his own food to help the victims during the drought in Mecca one year. The Hashemite family still rules the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to this day and was once the royal family of Iraq, but was overthrown by Saddam's predecessor, Qassam, who in turn assassinated Him.

In 1251, Möngke seized the position of Great Khan at the Assembly of Princes and actively planned further expansion. Kublai Khan was in charge of Chinese affairs, and Hulagu became the commander of the Western Expedition. In 1252, with the cowardly no flowers as the vanguard, 12,000 people led the western expedition. The Abbasid dynasty, because of its ability to maneuver with various aggressive forces and preserve its position at least as a Muslim religious leader, has been passed down for 36 generations and for 508 years by this time.

But this time, caliph Mustasin was very arrogant toward Hulagu, which made him the last caliph. Hulagu first flooded the caliph's main army and commander with water from the embankment, and then forced the caliph to abandon the city and surrender with a wonderful siege battle. A historically rare massacre unfolded, with hundreds of thousands of inhabitants killed, the city of Baghdad, a city with 500 years of cultural accumulation, devastated, the caliph himself trampled to death on horseback, and some members of the royal family fled to the Mamluk dynasty of Egypt for refuge.

In 1259, the Mongol Khan Möngke accidentally killed Diaoyucheng (present-day Hechuan, Chongqing), triggering a dispute over the khanship between kublai khan and the fourth brother Ali. In order to gain the support of the third Hulagu, in 1264, Kublai Khan gave him the world that Hulagu had conquered, and Hulagu stayed in the land he conquered and established the later Ilkhanate.
