Tonale comes standard with a 12.3-inch LCD meter and a 10.25-inch central control display screen. The car is powered by the OTA-enabled Uconnect 5 in-car system, which offers wireless connectivity such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new vehicle will also feature an advanced safety system that includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring and rear crossing path detection.

Tonale offers a variety of power options depending on the market. The 2.0T engine, for example, produces 256 hp (191 kW) and 400 Nm of torque, matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

The plug-in hybrid version of the 1.3T turbocharged four-cylinder is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that powers the front axle. A 121 hp (90 kW) electric motor powers the rear axle. The total output of the system is 272 hp (203 kW). Equipped with a 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. Alfa Romeo estimates that the range when traveling on electricity alone is more than 30 miles (48 kilometers).

In addition, Alfa Romeo will supply Tonale with two 1.5-liter mild hybrid systems. For the European market, a diesel version is also available.
