Microsoft is considering acquiring cybersecurity firm Mandiant

The U.S. Stock Research Agency has learned that Sina Technology news, Microsoft may acquire network security company Mandiant (MNDT). While the deal hasn't been finalized, Microsoft may seek to acquire the cybersecurity research firm to strengthen its products and help protect customers from hackers and intrusions, according to a source familiar with the discussions.

Microsoft shares rose nearly 1 percent to $303.88 on the day, while Mandiant surged 17 percent to $17.67 after the report. Still, Mandiant CEO Kevin Mandia declined to comment on bloomberg's report on its fourth-quarter earnings call, citing a discussion of rumored or speculative policies. Microsoft also did not respond to comment. Last year, FireEye was renamed Mandiant, currently worth about $3.7 billion, and focuses on cyber incident response and cybersecurity testing. Microsoft, which acquired two small cybersecurity companies in 2021, has said it will invest $20 billion in cybersecurity over the next 5 years.
