Zhong Yan told reporters that Lisa and Marina are both students in her paper-cutting elective class, and they have just studied this course for one semester and can already complete paper-cutting works on their own. "We organize Spring Festival activities for international students every year during the Spring Festival, including visiting temple fairs, making dumplings, making lanterns, etc. This year, because it happens to be the Beijing Winter Olympics, we want to show the elements of the Winter Olympics through the traditional Chinese art of paper-cutting. Zhong Yan said that at the time of the Winter Olympics, she issued an initiative to the international students in the paper-cutting class to use traditional paper-cutting to help the Beijing Winter Olympics and convey blessings from foreign friends.
It is understood that Lisa is from Pakistan, came to the University of Technology in September 2014 to study, and is now pursuing a doctorate in management science and engineering. Originally from Russia, Marina came to the University of Technology in September 2016 to study and is currently pursuing a phD in business administration. Different nationalities, different races, but because of the common love of traditional Chinese culture, let them come together. Zhong Yan introduced that Lisa and Marina are very passionate about Chinese paper-cutting, and once exhibited the Jinling Twelve Plates series and the Chinese Dream series of paper-cutting in the school's cultural festival, and gained a wave of "fans".
"We are very happy to be able to do something for the friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries, and this paper-cut work is also using our own way to cheer for the Olympic athletes!" Lisa happily told reporters.
