The S series of mobile phones released by Samsung every year will launch two versions of Snapdragon processor and Orion processor.
Previously, the S22 series of mobile phones only exposed the Snapdragon version of the running score, and also deleted their own Orion chip related Tweets. In this context, many people in the industry have speculated that the Samsung S22 series Orion version will be postponed.
However, the matter took a turn for the better on February 3. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, equipped with the Orion 2200 chip, appeared in the Geekbench database.
In this way, the Orion 2200 chip will still be launched by the Samsung S22 series and sold in a few markets such as Europe. The National Bank version and the US version continue to use the Snapdragon 8 chip.
In fact, looking at the running score alone, Orion 2200 is not worse than Snapdragon 8. Orion 2200 has a single core score of 1168, only 50 points lower than the Snapdragon 8, but with multiple test results, Orion 2200 is ahead of Snapdragon 8.
The test results of the two chips are not much different, because both use a 1+3+4 processor architecture, the super large core is Cortex X2, and the core configuration is the same.
Not only that, Snapdragon 8 and Orion 2200 are based on Samsung's 4nm process, and the power consumption performance is similar.
In fact, Samsung's oem processor for Qualcomm is a tradition. However, in the past, the comprehensive strength of Samsung Orion chips and Qualcomm Snapdragon chips have a big gap.
After all, the difference between the two manufacturers' positions in the processor market is not small, and there is a big gap between R& D investment and entry time.
And this year, Samsung can catch up with Qualcomm, in the author's opinion, mainly because Samsung Orion 2200 has AMD behind it. It is reported that the Samsung Orion 2200 chip GPU-Xcliope is based on AMD's RDNA2 architecture, which is also AMD's first mobile phone GPU architecture.
The reason why the Samsung Orion 2200 will cooperate with AMD is to use AMD to help compete with its main rival Apple in terms of game features.
Through AMD's technical support, Orion 2200 will become the industry's first mobile phone chip that supports ray tracing, and the game screen will obtain a more realistic light effect, and the expression is one step higher than the competitors.
Of course, gaming capabilities aren't the only selling point of the Orion 2200.
In addition to incorporating AMD's new GPU technology, the Orion 2200 has also upgraded its NPU configuration as well as ITS configuration. The Orion 2200 is currently the processor with the highest degree of artificial intelligence on the market, making mobile phones more secure and convenient.
