South Korea's NTS developed 8-inch LED wafer grinding equipment

Recently, South Korean media reported that NTS, a South Korean semiconductor wafer grinding and polishing equipment manufacturer, will release the 8-inch semiconductor wafer grinding equipment "Edge Grinder" in May, which can accurately process the outer diameter of the wafer into any desired shape. Previously, NTS released a 6-inch wafer grinding device.

It is understood that NTS was established in 2002, is a South Korean equipment company, mainly producing LED wafer grinding and polishing equipment, NTS plans to become a focus on pre-processing and post-processing packaging equipment business enterprises. At present, NTS provides equipment for companies such as Samsung Electronics, Seoul Semiconductor, LG Display, Osram, and HC Semitek.

According to South Korean media, NTS announced that it will complete the development of a new wafer grinding equipment "Edge Grinder" in May. The new equipment uses a diamond grinding disc to grind the outer diameter and edges of an 8-inch wafer, and through the grinding of the new equipment, the wafer can be precisely machined to the size and shape required by the customer.

One of the important features of NTS's new grinding equipment is that it can minimize vibrations or loads that affect the quality of the wafer production process, NTS general manager said that the new grinding equipment "Edge Grinder" uses precision CCD sensors to accurately identify wafer position and wafer shape, customers can position the wafer through the workpiece rotation, and reduce the equipment load to a minimum through precision rotation, so the production efficiency and speed of "Edge Grinder" is better than other equipment manufacturers.

In addition, the general manager of NTS revealed that at present, NTS is promoting the business development of 8-inch grinding equipment, hoping to expand NTS's market share in semiconductor grinding equipment through higher productivity and lower prices.

It is reported that NTS has previously mass-produced 6-inch grinding equipment "Edge Grinder", and the 6-inch grinding equipment has been supplied to China Semiconductor Wafer Company Zhonghua Semiconductor. South Korean media revealed that the recent increase in orders for NTS 6-inch equipment, NTS will supply about 30 devices to wafer manufacturers in the first half of this year, and sales are expected to reach 7 billion to 8 billion won.
