According to the news of the Core Research Institute, Huirong Technology recently announced at the financial report meeting that the next 2 years of PCIe 5.0 SSD master control development route, and confirmed that the first PCIe 5.0 SSD master control will arrive as soon as the end of this year.
It is understood that Huirong will develop a PCIe Gen 5 controller designed for enterprise users in the second half of 2022, with a model of SM8366. This master supports 16 channels, flash interface speed support up to 1600MT/s, can provide 14GB/s or even higher read and write speeds.
In the consumer market, Huirong is also developing a new SM2507 Gen 5 controller, which is expected to be launched in 2024. According to the current market situation, PCIe 4.0 SSD will still occupy the mainstream position and continue for several years, so Huirong will continue to upgrade the PCIe 4.0 master before officially transitioning to PCIe 5.0.
