Yamaha 2022 XSR700 XTribute vintage car

In late November last year, Yamaha Europe released an improved 2022' XSR700 (XS700), XSR700 XTribute (XS700SCR) vintage car.

Based on the platform of the sports street car MT-07, Yamaha released the retro-style XSR700 in 2015. By the end of 2018, in a nod to their classic off-road model, the XT500, Yamaha debuted an extended version of the XSR700 XTribute. And XTribute's gist is "Homage to XT".

The Yamaha XT500 was sold primarily in Europe and the United States between 1976 and 1989 in the last century, and is equipped with an air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder SOHC engine, making it one of the most popular models in the European market. The car that won Yamaha the first two Paris-Dakar Rally motorcycle races (1979 and 1980) was also modified from the XT500 European version as a base car.

Conceptually, as with the first version of the 2018' XSR700 XTribute, the new 2022' XSR700 XTribute is also inspired by XT and featured in a 1981' XT500 motif.

The 2022' XSR700 XTribute uses a water-cooled four-stroke in-line two-cylinder CP2 engine with a displacement of 689 cc, Euro 5 emissions standards, a six-speed gearbox, and a maximum power output of 54 kw (approx. 73.4 hp. Slightly lower than the previous generation XSR700 XTribute's 55 kw). The body follows the original diamond-type steel tube frame, aluminum alloy swingarm, upright fork, and monotube rear shock absorption that is close to horizontal connection.

Compared to the 2021 model, the new 2022' XSR700 XTribute is fitted with new round LED headlights, a newly designed instrument panel, an improved fork, a new skid plate with a larger size on both sides of the bulk water tank, a guard for the exhaust manifold, a larger diameter front brake disc (the 2018 model features a wavy front brake disc), a wider handlebar, and more.

According to the manufacturer, the new XSR700 XTribute and XT500 both have a clean design and comprehensive versatility. The new car offers the look of a real, 1980s Scrambler buggy, but with flexible handling and modern comforts. Combining timeless exterior retro style with modern technology, the 2022' XSR700 XTribute offers a new generation of riders the option to remember the past while having a great riding experience.

The new 2022' XSR700 and XSR700 XTribute are tentatively scheduled to be available to the European market starting in April.
