On September 30, the reporter learned from the Danxia Mountain National Nature Reserve Administration that since the end of August, Danxia Mountain has successively monitored spotted ducks, white-browed ducks, black-winged sandpipers, gray-headed wheat chickens, golden-spotted plovers, whiskered gulls, grass herons and other birds from the south of Northeast Asia, which has refreshed the bird observation record of Danxia Mountain to 231 species.

It is understood that the 7 bird species recorded this time are all wading birds, which like to inhabit the river, swamp or paddy field area in the reserve, feeding on mollusks and insects. The black-spined sandpiper has the largest population, about a few dozen, the number of other birds is about 10, and the grass heron appears alone.
Among the 7 newly recorded wading birds, the golden spotted plover of the Plover family breeds in northern Russia, northern Siberia and northwestern Alaska, wintering in the south Coast of China, Southeast Asia to Australia, the farthest migration distance; the gray-headed wheat chicken of the same family of the Plover family, breeding in the northeast of China to Jiangsu, Jiangxi and other southeastern provinces, winter southward migration to northeast India, Southeast Asia and other places, relatively rare in the inland of South China; black-winged long-legged sandpipers are birds belonging to the anti-billed sandpiper family, is a black and white sandpiper with large legs, and the migratory population is mostly in eastern Siberia. Breeds in northeast China, Korea and Japan.

The data shows that 66 species of transit birds and winter migratory birds can be seen in Danxia Mountain. Danxia Mountain belongs to the eastern migratory bird migration area and is an important gateway for the migration of migratory birds from the north to the south through the Luoxiao Mountains. After the autumn, the weather in the north is getting cooler, and the migratory birds are the first to perceive the arrival of autumn and start the migration journey of tens of thousands of miles of south flight. To reach the warm south for a winter, migratory birds must cross the South Ridge.

Professor Wang Yingyong, an animal expert at Sun Yat-sen University, predicts that with the growth of the bird observation team and the improvement of bird monitoring capabilities in Danxia Mountain, more newly recorded bird species will be found in Danxia Mountain during this migration season.
Thanks to the danxia mountain nature reserve capacity building project supported by the national and provincial forestry departments, Danxia mountain has fully launched the wildlife protection monitoring project, not only has more than 100 infrared cameras to form an automatic monitoring platform, but also carried out manual monitoring and investigation. Danxia Mountain Administration staff also use their spare time to engage in bird monitoring and surveys.

The relevant person in charge said that as of September 30, the Danxia Mountain Bird Catalogue has reached 231 species in 18 orders and 58 families, including 2 species of national first-level protection and 36 species of second-level protection, each bird species has accurate graphics and geographical information records, providing accurate basic data for the protection of danxia mountain wildlife, and also promoting the continuous improvement of the biodiversity value of Danxia Mountain and the value of world natural heritage, creating a new business card of "ecological Danxia" that can be compared with "Danxia landform".
