Swans frolic freely in the water
The reporter learned from the Hulun Lake Nature Reserve Administration that in accordance with the "2024 Implementation Plan for Bird Biodiversity Monitoring" of the Hulun Lake National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia, the staff of the Inland Lake Research Institute in the Cold and Arid Areas of Northern Hulunbuir City recently carried out spring waterbird monitoring work in the Hulun Lake Nature Reserve.
On-site observations
This monitoring carried out surveys in Bear Lake, Ulannuoer, Galada Baixin, Genghis Khan's tethered horse pile, Udulu, Hulungou and other areas of Hulun Lake. Through monitoring, a total of 20,343 birds of 63 species, 41 genera and 23 families of 10 orders, mainly geese and ducks, including 3 national first-class protected animals (white-naped crane) and 2,894 national second-class protected animals (wild goose, white spoonbill, whooper swan, whooper swan, mute swan, etc.).
As an important breeding ground and stopover place for migratory birds in Northeast Asia and Australia, Hulun Lake Nature Reserve plays an irreplaceable role, and every spring, a large number of migratory birds migrate to the Hulun Lake Nature Reserve one after another, or stay for a short time to replenish energy, or migrate here to begin to inhabit and reproduce.

At this time, the staff of Hulun Lake Reserve will also strengthen the protection and management of bird habitats to avoid human interference and other factors affecting the normal survival of migratory birds. At the same time, through continuous monitoring of migratory bird populations, we can understand the migration time rhythm, migration routes, stop breeding and habitat changes of birds, and clarify the impact of the environment and its changes on the survival of birds in the reserve, so as to provide technical support for scientific protection of birds.
