A few days ago, the Huihe National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia held the launching ceremony of the 2024 spring special action to protect migratory birds, which was attended by relevant personnel from the Banner People's Court, the Banner Procuratorate, the Banner Public Security Bureau, the Banner Forest and Grassland Bureau, the Banner Environmental Protection Bureau, and the relevant personnel of the West Sumu of the Sini River, Bayan Tara Daur Ethnic Township, and the Huisumu Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau.
At the launching ceremony, arrangements were made for the specific work of the reserve this year, emphasizing that the staff of the reserve should abide by the relevant regulations on fire prevention, transportation, and safe production, and do a good job in the protection of migratory birds while not disturbing them. The staff also went to Arshan Norgacha and other places to distribute leaflets to local residents and passing vehicles, advocating that herders start from themselves, protect migratory birds and the ecological environment, and report illegal acts in time if they find them, so that more people can understand the importance of protecting migratory birds.
As a national nature reserve with abundant animal and plant resources, every spring when the temperature warms up, migratory birds will migrate back here in groups, in order to better protect the migratory birds in the reserve, Inner Mongolia Huihe National Nature Reserve has set up a special action leading group, determined 3 patrol law enforcement checkpoints and Temo Huzhu white shift patrol points, determined the patrol route, and increased the patrol intensity and frequency. Implement 24-hour stationing with local police stations and township Sumu staff, and through joint governance, focus on investigating illegal hunting, killing, purchasing, transporting, selling migratory birds and their products, stealing bird eggs, stealing young chicks and other illegal and criminal clues that endanger wildlife resources, quickly investigate and solve cases of destruction of migratory bird resources, strictly investigate and punish illegal and criminal personnel, and ensure the safety of migratory bird resources and migration routes. The staff also went deep into Sumu and Gacha to publicize the laws and regulations related to the ecological environment and natural resources, and actively publicized the importance of protecting wild animals at important nodes such as "Bird Love Week", raised the public's awareness of protecting migratory birds and other wild animals, and created a strong social atmosphere of "loving birds and protecting birds".
Migratory birds are the touchstone of the environment, and with the continuous increase of ecological protection in the reserve, the habitat environment of wild animals and plants in the reserve has been significantly improved, and the population of migratory birds and other wild animals and plants has been significantly restored. At present, 316 species of birds have been recorded in the Huihe National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia, including 10 species of national first-class protected birds such as red-crowned crane and great bustard, 45 species of national second-class protected birds such as whooper swans and white spoonbills, 31 species of fish in 6 families, 10 species of amphibians and reptiles in 8 families, 43 species of mammals in 14 families, and 380 species of plants belonging to 227 genera and 84 families.
