Lai Qingde "transited" through the United States, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council responded one after another

The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry and the taiwan affairs office of the State Council successively responded to the fact that Lai Qingde will take advantage of the opportunity to "transit" the United States in the near future.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, answered a reporter's question on 20 January.

A reporter asked: Lai Qingde will take advantage of the opportunity to "transit" through the United States in the near future, during which he may interact with US officials. Any comments on this?

Zhu Fenglian said in response to an inquiry that the DPP authorities' attempt to use the so-called "transit" of the United States to plot official contacts between the United States and Taiwan and to seek opportunities to engage in "independence" manipulation is a consistent trick of their "relying on the United States to seek independence." No matter what name or trick they play, they cannot change the fact that "there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is a part of China." We firmly oppose any form of official exchanges between the United States and the Taiwan region. We urge the US side to abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three Sino-US joint communiques and not to send the wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" forces. Supporting Taiwan and seeking "independence" will only further damage peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and will only lead to the consequences of playing with fire and self-immolation.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China firmly opposes the transit of the leader of the Taiwan region to the United States

On January 20, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian presided over a regular press conference, and sources said that Tsai Ing-wen planned to send Taiwan regional deputy leader Lai Ching-te to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Honduran president held on 27 January as a "special envoy of the president" to transit through the United States, and may attend the event on the same stage as Vice President Harris. What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian said that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The one-China principle is a universally recognized norm governing international relations and a universal consensus that the vast majority of countries in the world recognize, accept, and practice. Adhering to the one-China principle is the general international righteousness, the aspiration of the people, and the trend of the times. Any attempt to create "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan" will inevitably be opposed by all the Chinese people, and we hope that the countries concerned will have a clear understanding of the general international trend and make a decision that conforms to the trend of history at an early date.

Zhao Lijian pointed out that the Chinese side has stated its position on many occasions on the issue of the "transit" of the leader of the Taiwan region in the United States and the "contacts between the United States and Taiwan." The Chinese side has always resolutely opposed such "transit" arranged by the United States or other countries that have established diplomatic relations with China, and has always opposed any form of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan. We urge the US side to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques, take China's position and concerns seriously, refrain from any form of official contacts with Taiwan, and refrain from sending any wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" forces.
