Speaking of "Eastern Han Copper Galloping Horse", people may have a certain sense of strangeness about it, but the name "Ma Ta Fei Yan" is almost a household name. This national treasure is a fine work of bronze art in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and it is also an outstanding ancient work of art, in addition to the well-known Ma Ta Fei Yan, it also has the famous names of Ma Chao Dragon Sparrow, Ma Ta Flying Falcon, Ling yun galloping horse and so on.
Ma Ta Fei Yan was excavated in October 1969, when villagers in Wuwei County, Gansu Province, were digging air raid shelters, and as a result, an ancient tomb was dug, which according to archaeologists, should be the masonry tomb of a general in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, and Ma Ta Fei Yan was the most valuable piece of burial. At that time, this tomb unearthed 99 bronze carriages and horse honor figurines, all of which were stationary, only this one horse stepped on the flying swallow.
According to the measurements, the height of the horse flying swallow is 34.5 cm, the length of the body is 45 cm, and the weight is 7.15 kg, which is extremely exquisitely made. It hissed with its head held high, in the shape of a gallop, the right rear hoof stepped on a flying swallow, and the other three hooves were fixed in the posture of galloping in the sky, as if a horse was galloping between the clouds, and the whole bronze horse was full of dynamic and powerful beauty.
Since the excavation of Ma Ta Fei Yan, it has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life, and the cultural relics community attaches great importance to this rare artistic masterpiece, and it was designated as a national treasure in 1986. In addition, Ma Tafeiyan was also identified as a Chinese tourism symbol by the National Tourism Administration, was included in primary school language textbooks, and in 2002 was included in the "Catalogue of the First Batch of Cultural Relics Prohibited from Going Abroad (Border)".
This outstanding and famous cultural relic, now stored in the Gansu Provincial Museum, is the treasure of the museum's town hall, and the daily tourists visit it are endless. But many people who have not seen it on the spot may have a question, that is, why almost all of Ma Ta feiyan's propaganda pictures are on the side, but rarely see the front?
In fact, the reason is very simple, that is, the front of Ma Ta Feiyan is really a little less serious.
The side of this bronze galloping horse is extremely perfect, and its conception is also very clever, using the flying swallow with the wings as the base of the galloping horse, which can not only maintain the agility of the work, but also grasp the balance and stability. In addition, its galloping posture is also meticulously crafted, making the whole work look vivid, as if it will really run in the next second.
Ma Ta FeiYan as a whole is very realistic, that is, this realism makes its front appear a funny image: perhaps it is running too fast and too fast, the head of the horse is slightly tilted in a somewhat distorted posture, with its long mouth and wide eyes, not only does not have the side of the performance of the Shen Jun, but also reveals a trace of "stupid" atmosphere.
Therefore, the various propaganda pictures we see now will basically not put the front of the national treasure on it, although it is not ugly, but it is indeed inferior to the smart and ethereal on the side. Cultural relics experts probably also hope that the impression of Ma Ta Fei Yan in people's minds is mainly solemn and majestic, rather than a "wild horse with joy".
As a national treasure, Ma TaFeiyan shows the brave and heroic spirit of the Han Dynasty, as well as the uplifting spirit, which conveys a positive spirit, which should naturally be taken seriously. Therefore, some imitations of Ma Ta FeiYan will also make some small modifications at this point, and make them as "correct" as possible, but after the changes, it does not look as smart and realistic as the real thing.
