
"Don't Tell Her"
<b>The</b> 2020 "Independent Spirit Awards" announced the winners today, With Wang Ziyi's "Don't Tell Her" winning "Best Picture" and Safdi Brothers' "Original Diamond" winning 3 awards: Adam Sandler's "Best Actor", "Best Director" and "Best Editing". Both films were produced by A24, which also became the biggest winner at this year's Independent Spirit Awards.
"The Original Diamond" and Robert Eggers's "Lighthouse" both led the way in five nominations, and in addition to these two films, the "Best Picture" nominations also included Terrence Malik's "The Hidden Life", "Don't Tell Her", Noah Baumbach's "Marriage Story", and Chinaye Chuku's "Forgiveness".
Films that have won multiple awards at this year's Independent Spirit Awards include "Lighthouse" ("Best Cinematography", William Dafoe's "Best Supporting Actor") and "Don't Tell Her" ("Best Picture", Zhao Shuzhen's "Best Supporting Actress"), "American Factory" and "Parasite" won "Best Documentary" and "Best International Film" respectively, and these two films are likely to take home the trophies of the same awards at tomorrow's Academy Awards.

Unlike this year's Oscars, two of the Independent Spirit Award "Best Director" nominations are women: Alma Haller of Baby Boy and Lauren Skafaria of The Dancing Woman Thief; actors of color nominated for the Actors Category include Zhou Hong ("Lane"), Alpha Ward ("Wide"), Kevin Harrison Jr. ("Luce"), Taylor Russell ("The Wave"), Jennifer Lopez ("The Dancing Lady Thief") and Octavia Spencer ("Luce").
