From Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, all the way to the north, drive 100 kilometers, to the Siziwangqi Wulanhua Town. There are two very loud names here - one is the "Shenzhou Spacecraft Recycling Site", and the other is the 79-year-old "Prairie Mother" Du Guima.
On the eve of the 2019 conference to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, DuGuima was awarded the national honorary title of "People's Model" in the Great Hall of the People. Today, as a candidate for the national moral model, her story has once again entered people's vision - raising 28 orphans, saving more than 40 pregnant women, and interpreting human love with half a century of true feelings.
19-year-old raises 28 "national children"
In the early 1960s, as a result of three years of natural disasters, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region received more than 3,000 orphans in Shanghai and surrounding areas, whom herders affectionately called "children of the state." Because of his studies and serious work, Du Guima, a herdsman who was only 19 years old at the time, was selected as a nurseryman and took on the responsibility of caring for 28 children. The oldest of these children is only 6 years old, and the youngest has just reached the full moon.
Take care of the children during the day to eat and drink, and at night it is the most difficult to stay up, and there is no way to sleep. The cries and noises of the 28 children came and went, and Guimaso made the bed in a circle so that more children could be taken care of.
The longest child around Duguima called Out and. When he first came to the nursery, Huhe was only over a year old, the weakest of these children. At that time, it was the age when Huhe learned to speak, and when Huhe called out the first "Eji" (Mother), Du Guima picked up Huhe, and his little head drilled into her arms. At that moment, Du Guima strongly felt the happiness of Dang'eji.
In the spring and summer of 1961, local herdsmen's families without children began to adopt the orphans. In order to give these children a complete home, Du Guima sent the children away one by one, even if they did not give up.
Whenever a family comes to adopt a child, Guima will introduce the child's physical condition, personality habits, and explain the precautions one by one. Under the care of Duguima, 28 individually frail and sick children were sent to the homes of their adoptive parents in good health.
Duguima kept a small notebook with the names and phone numbers of the 28 children. She said: "They have always been my children, just like my own children, in my heart for the rest of my life. ”
All nationalities will always be united in heart and suffer together
Today, Du Guima and the children she raised have set up a WeChat group. "Whenever you want to talk to any child, you can dial the phone. I talked to my 28 kids and talked to their kids. Mothers in Inner Mongolia have raised the children of the country, which is a history of the hearts of all ethnic groups and common hardships, which should be remembered. Duguima said.
Bao De is one of more than 3,000 orphans and is now a herdsman in the Red Gelsumu of the Four Sons Of Wang Banner. At the 2019 National Day Ceremony, Bao de accompanied his mother to the Tiananmen Observatory. She said: "I was lucky enough to meet a kind herder like my mother, Duguima. Now I am an authentic Mongolian woman, and the local government has given me thousands of acres of grassland. More fortunately, I have witnessed the development and progress of the country, and our lives are getting happier and happier. ”
Duguima's biological daughter Xuri said: "My mother and I live together, and in 2007, when the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was founded on the 60th anniversary, the local government allocated us a 75-square-meter building. Now we've got a bigger house. Usually, the children raised by the mother will come to visit her, and all walks of life often come to visit and comfort her, and we feel both happy and warm. ”
During the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, "Prairie Mothers" and "National Children" once again carried out a relay of great love. On February 17, Du Guima, with her daughter and grandson, paid a special membership fee of 1,000 yuan to the party branch of the fourth son, Wang Qi, Wang Qi, and Su Mu Ulan Xi Regacha. On March 5, in Wulanhua Town, Siziwangqi, Inner Mongolia, DuGuima donated 5,000 yuan to the Red Cross Society of Siziwangqi. The old man said: "The party and the state have given me a lot, and now that my compatriots are suffering, I should contribute a small contribution." ”
"Hello brothers and sisters, our country has encountered an epidemic, the epidemic is very serious, and the whole country has rushed to the aid of hospitals in Wuhan and other places. We are a special group, in the early 1960s, when the country was in difficulty, Premier Zhou Enlai and Ulan fu, then chairman of the autonomous regional government, sent people to take us to the Inner Mongolian steppe, saving 3,000 lives, we Shanghai orphans are grateful to the party and the government, do a little bit of effort, for Inner Mongolia, for the epidemic, please donate to the medical staff to buy isolation gowns and masks and other items. On February 9, Liang Yinmei sent such a message in the "Three Thousand Orphans" brother and sister group, which immediately caused a warm response from everyone.
Liang Yinmei, who now lives in Hohhot, told reporters that there are more than 100 people in the group, and the partners in the group are particularly active in this initiative. After the initiative was launched, she continued to receive WeChat transfers and telephone consultations. This group of people are more than 60 years old, many people's economic conditions are not very good, some people will not use WeChat, let the child contact Liang Yinmei to transfer money, Liang Yinmei received a total of 15400 yuan in donations.
Boundless love relay
The boundless love of "Prairie Mother" has been fermenting, leading the social trend to goodness and beauty.
In Guangdong, there is a "grassland love team", which has been carrying out activities to support out-of-school children in Inner Mongolia for decades, with the "grassland mother" Du Guima as an example.
Zhang Yuhang, the former editor-in-chief of Yangcheng Evening News, and 3 caring people were deeply touched by Duguima's great love for the world beyond blood, region and nation, and since 1997, when he sponsored the first grassland children to go to school, Zhang Yuhang has sponsored 10 children to realize their dream of reading. Over the past few decades, the trickle of grassland love and education has surged out of the earthly acts of kindness, and more than 800 people have spontaneously joined the "grassland love" education assistance action initiated by him, and the sponsored children are all over 12 league cities in Inner Mongolia, and more than 1,500 out-of-school children have returned to school.
The Prairie Love Team is getting bigger and bigger, with members all over the Pearl River Delta and as far away as Australia. Among them are workers from all walks of life, as well as foreign Chinese. The oldest of these people is in their 80s and the youngest is less than 10 years old.
Zhang Yuhang wrote a book called "Guarding Kindness", which wrote: "Guarding kindness is actually a kind of character and responsibility of being a person. Because only by paying kindness can we sow goodness; only by guarding goodness can we reap goodness. And sowing goodness requires only one thing, but guarding goodness takes a lifetime. ”
