In fact, this title is not accurate, because Mr. Guo Shuangsheng not only writes well in Mao calligraphy, but also paints Chairman Mao's portrait well, and peonies and tigers. I have not known Mr. Guo for a long time. It was in a calligraphy and painting activity on the eve of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, and I saw an old man writing Chairman Mao's poems on the spot, and it was Mao body calligraphy, the atmosphere was magnificent, and many people watched around, and only when they understood that this old man was Mr. Guo Shuangsheng. We were introduced by a friend and saw each other at first sight. So I had time to visit Mr. Guo's community as promised.
Walking into Mr. Guo's elegant room, the most eye-catching thing for me was the unpacked portrait of Chairman Mao hanging on the wall and the calligraphy of Chairman Mao's poems he wrote. If you don't look at the falling money, you really think that Chairman Mao wrote it, which is admirable. Mr. Guo is 80 years old this year, dressed in simple clothes, with a strong spirit, a kind face, and a clear ear. In order to show that he had good eyesight, Mr. Guo casually picked up an old newspaper and read it, which made me feel ashamed of myself. My little Mr. Guo had two rounds, did not wear glasses, and read the newspaper as a blur.
Speaking of the association with calligraphy and painting, Mr. Guo Shuangsheng said that when he was in elementary school, the teacher gave up the board newspaper, although the words and paintings were not good at that time, but he still completed the task conscientiously. In middle school, there was a teacher who could have both physical and aesthetic sounds and could give portraits. Every time he painted a portrait, he was observing it around him, and under the influence of this teacher, he also learned to paint portraits. Unfortunately, this teacher was transferred away soon after, but it also cultivated his interest in writing and painting. Later, Mr. Guo recruited workers to the Municipal Infrastructure Construction Company, and because he could write and paint, the leader assigned him to engage in propaganda and trade union work until he retired. At that time, running board newspapers, posters, writing large slogans, portraits, etc. was a regular work. He was deeply impressed once in front of a service building in the mining area to paint a seven-meter-high portrait of Chairman Mao in Beidaihe on a special cloth, which was praised by everyone. He said that at that time, he was also young, and although he was very hard, he also practiced the basic skills of calligraphy and painting, especially his portrait of Chairman Mao and Mao calligraphy.
After Mr. Guo retired, for a considerable period of time, he mainly took care of his grandchildren with his wife. After that, he re-studied and explored Mao calligraphy and Chairman Mao's portraits. In 2016, on the occasion of celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March of the Red Army, the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee and six other departments jointly held an exhibition of Mao body calligraphy and painting for him, Yuan Dongqiang and Zhang Zhixian, and published a collection of works.
In recent years, he has participated in many large-scale calligraphy and painting activities organized by provinces and municipalities, and Mr. Guo's calligraphy and painting works, especially large-scale hair calligraphy works, will be highly appreciated by the organizers and calligraphers. Mr. Guo is a kind old man. Over the years, more than 2,000 calligraphy and painting works have been given to units or individuals.
