Sever Director Monchi: Diego Carlos will stay in the winter window and Newcastle's offer is good but not enough

In an interview earlier, Sevilla sporting director Monchi reiterated that despite Newcastle's "nice offer", team defender Diego Carlos will remain in the winter transfer window.

Munch said: "The Newcastle offer is a great offer, it's respectable, I have to say it. But our board and management team believe that such a quote is not enough. Indeed, maybe now is not the right time to find a replacement for a player like Diego Carlos. ”

"Everything that happens in this transfer market needs to be done in a short period of time and if this offer comes in the summer, maybe things could change. The offer was really great and very decent, but didn't show up at the best of times. ”

It has been previously reported that Diego Carlos has submitted a transfer application and is pushing to leave Sevilla. But Munch said Diego Carlos showed no signs of dissatisfaction since the end of talks with Newcastle earlier this week.

Munch went on to say: "I spoke with Diego Carlos this morning and he was satisfied. At the end of the day, he's going to stay at this club, at a club that really wants him. If he's really angry, then he might change his perspective, but it seems like he's satisfied. ”

On the negotiations with Newcastle, Munch said: "We had a dialogue based on respect and they understood that we could reject their offer. The initial contact came from the player's agent, who sent us the message: 'Maybe Newcastle is ready to make an offer'. ”

"The first offer was made a month ago and Newcastle went the way it was going very well, we had a video conference and everyone expressed their views. Now that we believe that the negotiations are over, because we will not start meeting again, we are all well aware of our views on this transfer. ”
