According to Sky Sports, Newcastle still have a small chance to sign Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos, and although Sevilla has publicly ruled out the possibility of players leaving the team in the winter window, those who are committed to completing the deal have not given up.
As Sky Sports reported last week, Diego Carlos turned down a new contract from Sevilla for a move to Newcastle, though the Magpies have refused to pay more than €30 million (£25.1 million) for now.
Sevilla are currently working to renew their contract with Diego Carlos, and they have proposed a near doubling of the salary to match the salary that Newcastle offers for the player.
