As of 16:00 on January 25, Beijing has reported a cumulative total of 67 new coronavirus cases in this round of the epidemic, of which 61 cases associated with the Delta strain and 6 cases of the Ami kerong strain have been reported.

The two variants have different origin environments

The Omikejong variant is associated with the source of infection from international mail. The first confirmed case received international mail on 11 January, during which time only the outer surface of the mail package and the front page of the paper were exposed. The 22 environmental specimens of the international mail were all positive for nucleic acid testing. Therefore, this is a "matter-to-person" virus transmission.

"Some studies have shown that the new crown virus survives longer in cardboard and may survive for 48 hours at low temperatures." Song Jianxin, chief physician of the Department of Infection of Tongji Hospital affiliated to Huake, analyzed that although the virus can survive on the mail, it also depends on the viral load, and the low viral load will not form a large spread.

According to the Beijing DISEASE control report, as a close agent of the epidemic situation associated with Omicron, the courier was not infected, and the scope of infection was the mother and 1 colleague of the confirmed case.

However, the Delta-related epidemic situation is different, and its source of infection comes from three cold stores: the cold storage of No. 8 North Guangyangcheng Street, the cold storage of Yuquanying fruit, and the cold storage of the southwest suburbs. Since last year, the mainland has found that the new crown virus can survive in cold storage for a long time, some even up to 20 days. The notification shows that the Delta-related epidemic is a cluster of epidemics caused by imported cold chain items.

The Delta propagation chain extends longer

Song Jianxin believes that whether it is a Delta or an Aumechjong mutant strain, it has the characteristics of strong propagation and long incubation time. Whether large-scale transmission is formed and whether it is well controlled depends on the viral load and the length of hidden transmission. The earlier screening and detection, the shorter the chain of transmission and the easier it is to effectively control the outbreak.

The first confirmed case of the Omilon-related outbreak developed pharyngeal malabel on 13 January, nucleic acid test on 14 January, and positive nucleic acid test result on 15 January. From contact with the source of infection to the diagnosis, after 4 days, the virus spread time is short, the transmission chain is short, and the scope of transmission is small. Up to now, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of this related epidemic has been 6, and there are no new cases in the follow-up.

The Delta-related epidemic situation has been transmitted by families, communities and units, with a long transmission chain and a wide range of transmission. According to the Beijing epidemic notification, the cases have been found to be directly or indirectly related to cold chain items or related practitioners, and the epidemic situation is centered on the cold storage of fruit in Yuquanying, Fengtai District, the cold storage in the southwest suburbs and the cold storage of the Baihuafeng production base in Changyang, Fangshan District, and gradually spread to the community and work units, and there have been repeated cases in families, communities and work units.
