Samsung released a security chip to add fingerprint recognition to credit cards

Samsung yesterday released what it claims to be the industry's first payment card with an integrated fingerprint recognition security chip, with the built-in S3B512C chip reading biometric data through the fingerprint sensor, and using tamper-proof security components to store and verify data, and then analyzing the data with a secure processor. In addition to payment cards, the technology can also be used for student, staff or guest cards.

In addition to making it easier for issuers to launch payment cards with integrated fingerprint recognition, Samsung's technology also complies with Mastercard's latest payment card security specifications, as well as the CC EAL 6 international security standard. Samsung says new technologies can make transactions faster and safer, consumers no longer need to use traditional password verification, but also use anti-fraud technology to prevent criminals from using artificial fingerprints to commit crimes.

Many countries have stopped using swipes and signatures when accepting payment card consumption, and adding fingerprint recognition to payment cards can help improve security and further reduce the possibility of theft, but Samsung did not mention when the new technology will be officially available.
