Which of these three fingerprint recognition technologies would you like?

Since the development of mobile phones, security and privacy have increased day by day, and in terms of mobile phone unlocking, face and fingerprint have become two convenient unlocking technologies. Compared with fingerprint unlocking, face unlocking is indeed more convenient and easy to use, and security has also been improved. However, in the environment where the whole people wear masks, face unlocking has become a chicken rib design in most scenes. Nowadays, most mobile phone manufacturers also pay more attention to fingerprint unlocking, looking at the types of fingerprint recognition technology, there are no more than three: capacitive fingerprint recognition, optical fingerprint recognition and ultrasonic fingerprint recognition. Today, I will briefly share with you these three fingerprint recognition technologies.

Capacitive fingerprint recognition is the earliest fingerprint recognition technology. It mainly uses the silicon wafer to contact with the electrolyte on the skin to form an electric field, and the sensor can record the uneven shape of the fingerprint for the user to unlock. In principle, capacitive fingerprint recognition requires a medium to conduct, which simply means that it needs something similar to a button to carry. In the era of full screen, mobile phone manufacturers design it as a rear fingerprint unlock or a side button fingerprint unlock. At the same time, this fingerprint unlocking requires relatively high dryness of fingers, and it is impossible to unlock the mobile phone in the case of wet hands, so there are few mobile phones on the market today that use this technology.

Optical fingerprint recognition is a popular fingerprint unlocking technology nowadays. Compared with capacitive fingerprint recognition, this fingerprint recognition technology is a leap forward, moving the fingerprint under the screen and saving the space of the mobile phone. The principle is very simple, mainly using the reflection and refraction of light. When the finger is pressed on the screen, the screen will emit a bright light to illuminate the fingerprint, and the fingerprint will be reflected and refracted, and communicated to the sensor under the screen for recognition, so as to realize fingerprint unlocking.

At present, this fingerprint recognition technology is relatively mature, basically all mobile phone manufacturers will be equipped with use, and users' satisfaction with the technology is also acceptable. However, as with capacitive fingerprint recognition, it is difficult to unlock the fingerprint in the case of wet hands, and after attaching an individual tempered film, the mobile phone fingerprint unlocking will also fail. Both of these cases are caused by the refraction of light, when the fingerprint passes through the water or tempered film, the degree of refraction of the light is intensified, and it is inevitable that there will be a failure. Therefore, most mobile phone manufacturers will warn users to use a suitable mobile phone film when leaving the factory to avoid fingerprint failure.

Ultrasonic fingerprint recognition is a relatively new fingerprint recognition technology. The principle is mainly based on the pressure reading of the skin reflecting the sound waves, so that the fingerprint sound waves are drawn, and the conductor can be unlocked after recognition. From the principle point of view, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology compared to the first two fingerprint unlocking technology, through three-dimensional input and sound wave conduction, the details of the finger requirements are not very high. So, even with wet hands, stained fingers, or even wet screens, the phone can be unlocked without any impact on sensitivity.

At the same time, when entering a new fingerprint, it is not necessary to enter it repeatedly, only need to gently press the fingerprint recognition area, and the fingerprint entry can be realized once, so that the user can unlock it multiple times. This technology can be said to be a good solution to the common problems of capacitive fingerprint recognition and optical fingerprint recognition technology, the requirements for finger details are minimized, and the security is also improved a lot. But there is still a problem, even through the pressure conduction of ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, is still under-screen fingerprint recognition technology, in the mobile phone paste mobile phone film, pressure conduction will be more or less blocked, although the failure of the situation is not frequent, but it is difficult to avoid accidental occurrence.

The author believes that ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, as the latest technology at present, the maturity is not very high, but the use experience is definitely the best. At the same time, the material cost used in this technology is relatively high, generally only on the flagship machine or high-end machine, so for users, although the experience is good, but the purchase cost is also a standard to be considered. But in the end, it is still that sentence, as the technology matures, the cost will be controlled, and it will naturally spread.

Of course, fingerprint recognition technology is not the only one, and face recognition is also a technology that cannot be ignored. Previously, Apple has been testing face recognition technology for wearing masks or glasses, and it is believed that it will be launched soon, and the actual experience is unknown. However, this is also a new direction for the current mobile phone unlocking, perhaps in the future many mobile phone manufacturers will be equipped with use, expanding the convenience of users to use mobile phones.
