In order to prepare for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the Capital Gymnasium was remodeled, and athletes needed to have a new training place, and the State General Administration of Sport decided to build a national winter sports training center in Shougang: a short track speed skating hall, a figure skating hall, an ice hockey hall, and a curling hall, commonly known as "four pieces of ice".

On January 5, the National Winter Sports Training Center Figure Skating Training Center, the Figure Skating National Training Team held an open training session.

The treasure land of the refined coal workshop in Shougang Park is reserved for the "three pieces of ice": the short track speed skating hall, the figure skating hall and the curling hall. It is reported that the Shougang Park refined coal workshop is 300 meters long and 66 meters wide, and was built earlier for the convenience of unloading coal, and the length is equivalent to a train. Here the pulverized coal was everywhere, the earth was flying, the dust was dusty, and people walked in in white and walked out dressed in black.

In May 2017, the refined coal workshop used high-pressure water mist to spray dust to reduce dust. The relevant project team decided to demolish the roof structure and the surrounding wall envelope, leaving the pillars and crane beams to clear the site.

According to international practice, the overall thickness of figure skating ice is 40 cm-50 cm, which is composed of 5 cm-8 cm bottom ice, ice paint layer and ice surface of about 20 mm. The ice paint layer mainly plays an aesthetic role, and it needs to be sprayed with special ice paint to form. In order to ensure the hardness and flatness of the ice body, each time the watering to make ice must be scraped flat with an ice scraper, and the ice cleaning truck is rolled and swept flat, and it takes 100 to 200 times to scrape ice to make a piece of ice.

It generally takes 10 to 15 days to make such an international standard skating ice surface with a length of 60 meters and a width of 30 meters, and there is no gap in the middle. There must be a seam in the grassroots under the ice, and Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd. hired the world-class ice-making team AST Company to participate in the whole process of ice-making, working overtime day and night, and it was completed in a week. They made the requirements for the proportion of concrete, and used advanced instruments far higher than the national standard for ice pouring, which is commonly referred to as ice fighting. The concrete base layer has 9-11 layers of structure, heating pipe, refrigeration pipe, waterproof... Adding up to 50 cm thick, it must be ensured that each layer can not be wrong, the professional team requires the ice surface height difference within 3-5 mm, and the ice surface difference of the "four pieces of ice" is within 2 mm, and the ice surface of 30 meters × 60 meters uses the overall truss technology, shortening the construction period by 3-5 months.

Walking into the figure skating training hall, the venue is clean and bright, the ice level is like a mirror, shining under the illumination of the lights. In order to fully ensure that the national team members really feel "no difference" when training and participating, the ice-making process and all aspects of facilities are strictly in accordance with the standards of the Winter Olympic Games, including the lighting illumination of the venue, the temperature and humidity of air conditioning, and dust removal. There are more than a dozen precision processes for ice making, and the ice surface structure is divided into floor heating anti-condensation frost heave layer, anti-frost heave heating layer, insulation layer, protective layer, sliding layer, waterproof layer, concrete refrigeration layer, etc., and finally presents a smooth piece of ice.

The designers retained the structure of the factory building, the aggregate of the red and gray color cement board material was made of construction waste, and the interior decoration adhered to the "Morandi-style" color matching principle: simple, not dazzling, so that athletes can focus on the ice. The factory building did not have a sound absorption effect, and they perforated the concrete slabs and the wooden finishes to absorb the noise. The team inspected many domestic competition venues and learned lessons, such as the use of tile floor glue in the corridor of Xinjiang ice sports venues, and athletes walking on it are easy to wrestle, so the ground of The new stadium in Shougang is paved with sports floor glue, so that athletes can walk on it wearing skates and not slip. In the warm-up area, the glue on the four tracks is bright red, and the athletes can feel nervous excitement after training and quickly enter the competition state.

Inside the figure skating hall, Zhao Hongbo, head coach of the Chinese figure skating team, wore a down jacket to guide the athletes in training: jumping, lifting, spinning... Athletes leap on the ice, like swallows flying and swans dancing. Zhao Hongbo praised: "Shougang Figure Skating Hall has reached the world's top level, which is a combination of modern venues and industrial heritage. This is the best piece of ice I have ever seen, and we will welcome the arrival of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics with the highest training standards! ”

The environment of the short track speed skating hall in the swimming hall's neighbor is also very powerful, and Li Yan, head coach of the Chinese short track speed skating team, said: "I feel that this place is particularly cool, very artistic, and this is our 'feng shui treasure' for preparing for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics." ”

Curling has extremely high requirements for the temperature, humidity and hardness of the ice surface, and in the curling hall, Canadian ice engineer Jimmy led Shougang workers to make ice. Originally, the ice rink should be done in half a month, but the athletes were in a hurry to train, and Jimmy led a group of people to rush to make it, and it was completed in 7 days. Jimmy said: "Snow sports in Canada are very developed and there are many participants. I am 59 years old and have 44 years of ice making experience. I love China so much that I must bring first-class ice to the people of Beijing. ”
