The AirCar is airworthy and is powered by a BMW 1.6T engine

IT House January 24 news that a few years ago, a flying car that could both drive on the road and fly in the sky seemed to be something from a science fiction movie, but as companies around the world are studying this kind of transportation, we are getting closer and closer to this kind of car. Now, Klein Vision's AirCar flying car has taken a big step toward mass production.

AirCar has officially received an airworthiness certificate from the Slovak Transport Authority, while the flying car was only certified after more than 70 hours of testing, powered by a 140-horsepower BMW 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a fixed propeller and a ballistic parachute. The flying car is capable of traveling at speeds of 170 kilometers per hour and can fly 1000 kilometers at an altitude of 2500 meters.

According to CarScoops, airCar flying cars made their first flight as early as 2020 and completed their first intercity flight last June. With the acquisition of airworthiness certificates, the flying car is getting closer and closer to the ultimate goal of mass production.

"The certification of air cars opens the door to the mass production of efficient flying cars, which gives us the ability to change medium-haul travel forever." Inventor, development team leader and test pilot Stefan Klein said. "50 years ago, the car was a symbol of freedom," said Anton Zajac, co-founder of the project. "AirCar expands these areas, taking us to the next dimension: where the road intersects with emptiness."

IT House understands that Klein Vision may be the only company so close to actually producing such a flying car, and the company's goal is to give the public version of the flying car a range of up to 1,000 kilometers.
