According to the news of the microgrid, the mature process production capacity continues to be in short supply, and TSMC is said to increase the production capacity of 28nm and optimize the 22nm special process capacity to seize the OLED display driver IC, 5G RADIO frequency IC, CMOS image sensor (CIS) and other markets.

According to Taiwan's Business Times, with the acceleration of chip content in end products such as automotive electronics, PCs, servers, networking devices, and smartphones, TSMC will not only increase advanced process production capacity, but also expand mature process production capacity to cope with strong customer demand.

TSMC President Wei Zhejia said at the French conference a few days ago that the strong demand from customers for TSMC's leading advanced and special processes will drive TSMC's performance growth in 2022, witnessing the structural increase in the long-term demand for semiconductors in the 5G and HPC industry trends and the increase in the semiconductor content of many end products, and it is expected to maintain tight production capacity in 2022.

According to previous reports, TSMC's capital expenditure in 2022 will increase to $40 billion to $44 billion, of which 10%-20% will be used to expand mature special processes. The report quoted equipment industry insiders as pointing out that TSMC locked in the expansion of 28/22nm production capacity, including the expansion of the Nanjing plant 28nm production line, Nanke Fab 14 plant will expand the P8 plant to increase special process production capacity, and start the joint venture with Japan's Sony fab JASM and Taiwan's Kaohsiung plant P1 plant construction plan.
