In recent months, some Switch users, especially those on relatively new OLED models, have been highlighting their system battery issues. One example is when Swicth is in sleep mode, the battery drains very quickly and quickly overnight. Or another scenario is to consume more power than normal during gameplay.
Nintendo's official customer service department shares a set of steps for this, and while these steps are very basic, if your battery runs out unexpectedly, it's worth following and giving it a try. Here's the whole process of the steps.
Prerequisite: Use the correct charging method, do not put the Switch Lite into the base of the regular version or OLED version to charge.
1. Go to "System Settings", "Sleep Mode" and set "Automatic Sleep" to "Never".
2. Disconnect the Switch in handheld mode without connecting to AC power.
3. Start the game and stay as it is, such as staying on the title screen.
4. Place the Switch separately when the screen is on.
5. Wait until the battery is exhausted (the screen will turn black when the system is turned off).
6. When the battery is depleted, plug the Switch into the charger and let it sit for at least 4 hours.
If you are using the latest model, in order to avoid the potential OLED aging screen burning phenomenon, it is recommended to perform these steps when the battery level is already relatively low. That way, you won't stay on the title screen for too long until the battery runs out.
Completely discharging the battery before charging is the standard recommendation to resolve battery issues, and if you have recently been affected by battery issues, it is recommended to give it a try.
