The drill held on the 20th adopted the methods of real situation simulation, real troop pulling, and actual combat disposal, and the drill site involved areas such as Yanqing, Haidian, Fangshan District, and key station areas in Beijing, as well as many areas such as the Zhangjiakou area in Hebei Province, with a total of 561 people participating in the exercise, 187 sets of mechanical equipment, and 1 rescue helicopter.
The drill simulated that at 6 o'clock on February 4, the Central Meteorological Observatory and the Beijing Meteorological Observatory respectively issued an orange warning of blizzard, and it is expected that from 9 o'clock on February 5 to 7 o'clock on February 6, there will be blizzards in the Beijing area, and the snow in the northwest region will be heavy, which will have a greater impact on railway operations, highway traffic, urban traffic operations, especially on the traffic support of the Winter Olympics.
During the exercise, in view of the heavy snowfall, the highway management department organized forces to carry out ice and snow removal operations on the Expressways of Beijing-Li, Beijing-Tibet, and Beijing-Xin, as well as on many ordinary highways in the northern direction. After the Yanqing area upgraded and issued the blizzard red warning, the transportation departments of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei held a video meeting to launch the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei ice and snow disaster weather traffic support emergency linkage mechanism. The Beijing transportation department dispatched forces from the Fangshan District Reserve Point to reinforce the Jingli Expressway to shovel ice and remove snow, and adopted uninterrupted circular operations in accordance with the principle of "no roads, no rest, no snow, and no stops".

By 16:55, there had been a collision of multiple vehicles, injuries and vehicles stranded on the ordinary highway of the Beijing-Qingdao Line.
