I was interviewed by The Economist and experienced deep malice

Recently, the editor-in-chief of the China column "Tea house" of The Economist found the famous self-media person Sere and interviewed him, but this interview was not with goodwill and sincerity. In its article, The Economist distorted Saire's interviews and confused the spontaneous patriotism of young Chinese with extreme "nationalism, portraying the production of fact-checking videos as a "profitable" business. For this reason, we interviewed Saire and listened to him talk about the beginning and end of this interview.

I was interviewed by The Economist and experienced deep malice

I was autistic, last year, in November, the Economist, and said he was going to interview me. But two months later, I learned I had been cheated. Although I have been hacked countless times, only this time has made me most sad.

Once I had a heart of friendly communication and sincerely answered every question. But the other party did not cherish. He misinterpreted the content of my interviews, promoted me as a fancy ultra-nationalist representative, and praised paper clips, Nakananya and others as noble and sober citizens of the world. There is nothing more painful in the world than this...

But thankfully! I recorded the sound!

The sound of heaven, the sound of Saire's words. Although I was angry at being misinterpreted, the opportunity to eat melons like this on my head was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Today I will take my own real case and analyze how the foreign media concocted a malicious fake news. Guaranteed to be an insider! Not a little dry.

First of all, let's look at the original text on the Internet. The headline, "China's online nationalists turn paranoia into clickbait," was sensational: China's cyber nationalists turned paranoia into clickbait. A stick beats all patriotic feelings into paranoia, and then links patriotism with tangible interests, that is, the label that needle fans like to put on me the most, the so-called "eating patriotic meal.".

He begins by proposing the hypothesis that the rise in nationalism may one day lead to uncontrollable outbursts of anger among ordinary Chinese, especially young people. And such paranoid exclusivity will become a nasty but profitable game.

So first we have to determine, what is nationalism?

Nationalism was originally a concept from Western academia, and there are many opinions about its definition. It usually refers to thoughts and actions that are based on safeguarding the interests and dignity of one's own people. Being active can help safeguard national sovereignty, interests and dignity, and thus promote social development. And paranoia will be extremely xenophobic and closed to the country. Because of this confusing definition, the label of nationalism often depends on the value orientation of the speaker. Apparently, in this report, nationalism has become a derogatory term.

But the problem is that most of us hold a simple patriotic feeling of loving our relatives and hometown, and then extending to loving the social community within the boundaries of the country. However, the report defines this sentiment as ultra-nationalism.

He immediately began to classify people, saying that there was a "group of people" who were clearly bridges between China and other countries, and who were smeared by officially supported "nationalist publishers" as being funded abroad simply because they conveyed Western concerns about "China's growing influence on the world."

And who are these bridges of spontaneous public welfare? The author is not ambiguous, simply named: paper clip, three orange planet, Nakananya. It also glorifies their glorious record: the paper clip was attacked by cyber nationalists for pointing out in the film that eating less meat is good for the planet. Then he said that the three orange planets were called racial traitors because they urged Chinese to consume seafood more responsibly; and that Nakananya was named "two devils" in order to promote sustainable development in Africa. In the end, I was afraid that the foreigners did not know the meaning of the second devil, and they also intimately explained the meaning of the word. Seeing this, I found that these people had all become the righteous side, and the villain leader was actually my own ???

Even so, they said I used to be a "little known" social media entrepreneur! I have obviously been a popular science blogger since 2015, and I am also a head, how can I be little known? Also say my secret weapon is to make xenophobia interesting? But my secret weapon is clearly my natural voice! That's okay too... They actually tampered with the gender of my fans! Who doesn't know that my core audience is obviously a female fan!

I can't tell the gender of my fans, and I can't tell the netizens' playing stems! In the description of the article, patriotism has become not only an entertainment industry, but also a means of getting rich. According to an anonymous person whose "boss was targeted last year," a video exposing anti-Chinese people can harvest traffic and convert it into revenue. Then we will talk about income, for self-media, the most important source of income is actually advertising, and Sai Lei talk gold released so far, more than 100 videos only one issue is advertising content, and this period is still a friend to go through the back door, and what about traffic conversion into income?

Not to mention that we Sai Lei as a self-media from the automotive industry, in the self-media industry is relatively close to money, we want to make money if there will be many ways, there is no need to use the way he said, I just a few rotten rice on the line, talk about the shadow leopard AMG performance, talk about Weilai can directly run sichuan-Tibet highway La these, then the money is not much faster than these.

Halfway through the article, I finally mentioned my interview. It's funny to say, I spent more than 30 minutes, nearly 10,000 words of interview text, was condensed into such a paragraph, how is it afraid of checking the weight and not passing?

In particular, I mentioned that before I was interviewed, I asked questions in advance on the grounds of distrust of foreign media. Not to mention that I don't know why you trust you unconditionally, just such a plastic Chinese, without a Chinese outline, I can know what he is asking? In addition, in the original interview, I did not tell the other party my name, but also made a special statement: if I had to be called, I would call Saire or Mr. Lee. Because my partners and colleagues and I have suffered death threats and information exposure problems, the whole article mentions so many people involved that I only emphasize my "real name". A well-known media, so untrustworthy, what else to talk about trust or distrust?

Here I also happen to state again, this so-called exposure of my real name, in fact, is the name of one of our employees, and as a globally renowned "Economist" magazine, actually quoted black fans in order to expose our so-called personal information, on the Internet to piece together fake news, so far I really think that economists are just like this, but it just so happens that this colleague and I are surnamed Li, resulting in this so-called professional magazine also believe in this fake news.

The only thing I can believe is that you are not trustworthy! The question was also mentioned in the original interview, when I was asked why I was more sensitive to so-called Western forces. And I think the core reason is that the West reports on our country, there are too many fake news. In connection with the Arab Spring and the impact of NGOs behind the Burmese riots, we have to prevent it. So to name a few, I heard news that I thought was particularly absurd: like Trump saying that drinking disinfectant water can cure the new crown, BCI's slander of Xinjiang cotton, and the masks we donated had Chips doped with Huawei. And these, his so-called "unsourced tidbits" are precisely the news reports that I can see in a casual search on the Internet.

He also highlighted that I "insisted" that I was a private company with no ties to the government. Really aggrieved, sisters, do I still use "insist"? If I really have a background, why not beep for 4 days in a row in the New Year? Dear reviewers will see me greatly and have a headache? Forget it, talking too much is tears.

The following paragraph is even more amusing, full of "you Chinese are all white-eyed wolves, and you will kill donkeys when you unload the grind." First of all, which one that really helped us is not written into history and praised by everyone? The "honeymoon period" he mentioned is also based on mutual benefit and reciprocity, because Western society has some interests in China. This is the point where we need to beware, but being wary is not the same as hostility. Nor is it that we don't need to borrow some of the experience of the West. Our country is open to learning from the useful development paths of each country, and then integrating them to find a development path suitable for our country.

At the end, a small headline was deliberately added. "Tell Chinese that every foreigner is a potential spy." I don't know how he came to that conclusion, but it could be their own experience. Here I would like to tell you a ridiculous news that I have read somewhere:

In 2019, CNN reported that a U disk sister Zhang Yujing, because of the nature of her work, needed to take photos with celebrities to improve her identity, so she gritted her teeth and spent more than 100,000 yuan to buy a dinner invitation letter for Trump's palace. As a result, she entered Trump's palace alone with four mobile phones, a hard disk, a laptop, and a USB stick, and after taking selfies for a while, she finally found that the wrong duty agent arrested her. After 4 hours of interrogation, she was plugged directly into a computer in the Secret Service's internal system. As a result, the computer was poisoned and began to install malware like crazy. She also had a device in the hotel that detected hidden cameras, another cell phone, five cell phone SIM cards and about $8,000 in cash. In this way, the whole United States identified this as a "female spy". Pompeo told the media: "This shows how rampant espionage from China has become." But in fact, the court announced that it had not found any evidence of Zhang Yujing's suspicion of espionage, and she could only be sentenced to 8 months in prison for contempt of the court and other crimes. Catching up with the pandemic, he was also locked up in an immigration detention center for two years.

According to the logic of this columnist, can I deduce in the same way that every Chinese in the eyes of foreigners is a spy?

Then he said that there are fewer and fewer opportunities for international NGOs to work with us, so many NGOs have turned to lobbying us to be a more responsible country on environmental issues. This is really slippery, when we need to be lobbied for environmental protection. When the Western media hyped up the topic of carbon emissions and attacked China for having a "bad impact" on the climate, Chinese with the advancement of ecological greening projects, it has long achieved the miracle of "people entering the sand and retreating". As Western environmentalists show and march, 2,750 nature reserves have been established on the mainland, accounting for about 15% of the country's land area, and a stable artificial breeding population has been established for more than 300 species of rare and endangered wildlife.

Over the past 40 years, the forest coverage rate on the mainland has increased to 23.04%, and the forest stock has increased to 17.56 billion cubic meters, ranking first in the world in terms of plantation area. Chinese has always paid attention to the cause of the discussion, environmental protection is the common responsibility of mankind, the contribution we have made is obvious to all, why should others lobby? See how you just shout slogans without doing real things?

As for whether foreigners will help China without expecting returns, the question is, or your magazine simply pays attention to my latest video [Syrian Poison Seeds], which is about the great benevolent People in the United States, who do not expect returns, and provide poisonous seeds with worm eggs to the Syrian people free of charge.

Finally, the author also mentions a report in a global "tabloid" in November last year. This is very interesting, he originally used tablioid to describe the Global Times, and this word, generally refers to that kind, short text, more pictures, the content is mostly celebrity anecdotes, often regarded as less serious popular tabloids. I don't know how the retired old Hu views the "tabloid", in short, the author believes that the purpose of this content is to enhance domestic hostility to foreign NGOs.

In the original report of the Global Times, we can see that this marine public welfare organization, which has been investigated and punished by the national security department, has not only accepted funding from overseas NGOs, but also set up 22 monitoring points close to military targets in the mainland. This kind of behavior that directly threatens the military security of the mainland, we remind us that it is actually described as hostility?

If I hadn't seen this article in person, I wouldn't have known that foreign countries were actually so peace & love, monitoring points have run to the military port, and they can still pull environmental protection as a banner. How many more military ports will be opened in the West? Let's also promote our own environmental protection concept? Or that it is okay for me to go over there to set up a stall and sing, and give my western friends a look at the musical standards of music masters from the East, and then take photos to record the retention.

In short, after the whole content, I appeared briefly, and it was also used as a negative teaching material. So why did you pretend to come over and ask me for a phone interview? In the whole interview, I actually answered the relevant questions, but the content written can be said to have no half-cent relationship with my answer, and then I will turn out the original recording to restore the scene to everyone.

Later I began to realize that none of these interviews were his real purpose. He has been ignoring my defenses and my actual achievements, and finally tried to see the dagger and began to introduce the question of "can overseas NGOs enter China to do propaganda" question.

I found that missionary thinking in the West for hundreds of years has not changed. But the question is, on the topic of environmental protection, why do I need a scumbag from you to give me a lecture? You dare to say that I dare not listen.

I really can't imagine that The Economist, one of the most read and influential political and business journals in the world, and an English source for Chinese graduate students, can distort the facts to this point.

And it was only after I was slandered that I discovered that the column "chaguan" in which this article is located is almost like a column dedicated to anti-China, and they are not talking about China, but prejudice against China. The name of the column is stark evidence that they impose a strange definition of a leisure place for the teahouse, which they consider to be a place of free speech and civilian politics. But only we know that drinking tea is a common thing for Chinese. Therefore, this kind of over-interpretation is ultimately because the foreign media that have occupied the right to speak for many years have become accustomed to this kind of self-talk, and casually buckle their hats without truly understanding the culture of the other party. And this feeling of being slighted and misinterpreted reached its peak when I confronted the author.

The editor-in-chief of the Chaguan column, without my consent and confirmation, used the "real name" of Saire circulating on the Internet without my consent and confirmation, and after I pointed out the problem, he brazenly denied his mistake and asked me to prove my real name. Is it a sense of humor unique to the British? There is a saying in the ace agent called Menners maketh man, which has been translated domestically as "no etiquette, no standing" in the Analects. As a result, reality tells us that the British, who have always prided themselves as gentlemen, have only arrogance left in this editor-in-chief. I don't know what my name is?

In the same interviews, others became "a veteran of an NGO" and "Chinese liberals targeted by employers last year." Or simply do not mention the identity of the founder and only emphasize the name of the organization what paper clip, zhongnan house, to protect the parties. How did I turn to be 30 years old this year, what is my real name? I don't know if he used an online name as my real name, but he also emphasized what he was trying to do. But this kind of double-standard behavior does not have the professionalism of a mainstream magazine, nor does it have the sense of morality that media people should have. It's no wonder that in an article titled "From Vegetarian to Artificial Meat: A Chronology of Human Vegetarian Diets," the half-cursed, half-threatening stupidity of "those who insist on eating meat may end up looking as ignorant as pigs."

But thanks to the 52-year-old editor-in-chief David Rennie, whose real name is David Rennie, I have the privilege of seeing the ability of the Western media to create fake news. It's also an ancestral skill, because I did a little bit of searching for me the way he checked me, and found that his father was once the director of Mi6 in the United Kingdom, responsible for pro-colonial and anti-communist propaganda during the Cold War. He also has a brother who was arrested on suspicion of smuggling drugs in large quantities from Hong Kong, China. I am also too simple, such a "family knowledgeable", I even expect that he will really have the sincerity to understand China, and communicate frankly with me.

Like I said, Twitter is a good thing. Sure enough, David is also keen to publish and retweet all kinds of shocking prejudices against China, such as this malicious speculation about China's intention to eradicate poverty, slandering Chinese's anti-epidemic policy is a digital game, and Meng Wanzhou's yin and yang weirdness when he returns home. On his Twitter, such content abounds. You can always trust Twitter, where the ugly faces of foreign media are gathered.

I found that I am not the only video blogger who has been slandered, as long as the propaganda concepts of Chinese self-media and foreign media are contrary, and question their fake news, that is, "self-dry five". How dare you stand up for your country? That is to incite national sentiments and eat "patriotic rice." It seems that the topic of "nationalism" in China is a new strategy for foreign media to guide public opinion recently.

Under this big banner, Chinese cannot speak for their own country, which will be too "nationalistic", but foreigners can pretend to be "China Tong" to criticize China at will, which is also called objective neutrality. And after watching a few of David's videos, I'm pretty sure he preset his position before interviewing me!

Friendly reminder: if you think there is a problem with the information about you online, you can come and let me know, and I will be happy to correct it as well.

I really regret that you who know China so well still choose to interpret China with prejudice, and I am also shocked, it turns out that you have always known the truth, but you still choose to distort the facts, just to support your conspiracy theory.

In fact, no matter who is interviewed today and what the other party answers, they will naturally look at China with colored glasses. So even if I had already answered at the beginning of the interview that we were a fact-exposing video, this account was also done out of my personal interest, and it was precisely the false reports of foreign media that continuously provided me with materials that gave me the motivation to refute and expose the truth. But they still call my video a nationalist video. Because only by defining patriotism as irrational emotions and paranoid nationalism can some people be given the opportunity to confuse the public and fish in muddy waters, and then a group of reasonable guests can use this climax to reduce the patriotic sentiment of Chinese.

Westerners may really not understand the meaning of patriotism, but in China, patriotism should not be stigmatized, and it is precisely because of the enthusiasm of patriotism that we can firmly resist all kinds of rumors and divisions in the West. It is because of patriotism, so when the epidemic comes, countless people will stand up as volunteers. It is also because of patriotism that we are willing to sacrifice our personal interests for the prevention and control of the epidemic. We see the efforts our country has made for the sake of the people, so we will go to the country, this is a mutual process, not some blind, extreme emotions. Therefore, it is recommended that the next time the foreign media still report on China in a truth-seeking manner, because lies and deception will only make our counterattack more intense and our faith firmer.
