Infineon introduces the new generation of MOTIX single and half-bridge ICs for a wide range of automotive applications

Gaz Automotive News On January 18, Infineon Technologies announced the launch of a unique series of intelligent integrated half-bridges: the new MOTIX BTN99xx (NovalithIC+), a direct upgrade of the BTN89xx. In addition to a p-channel high-side and an n-channel low-side MOSFET, the BTN99xx also includes smart driver ICs that are fully integrated in a single package and are suitable for a variety of automotive applications due to ease of use, advanced protection, and scalability. In addition, the BTN99xx integrates various functions in a single rugged package, making it also suitable for applications that require reduced PCB consumption. With its superior reliability, the BTN99xx is also ideal for other applications such as seat control, power tailgates and sliding doors, fuel pumps and more.

Andreas Doll, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Body Power at Infineon, said: "The MOTIX BTN89xx (NovalithIC) product range has been a success. Since 2015, we have delivered more than 500 million units of this product to our automotive customers worldwide. The new BTN99xx series is available in a small HSOF-7 package, which reduces the size by 60% compared to the previous generation. ”

The new series features Infineon's advanced chip-by-chip and chip-stack assembly technology for a robust package. With Infineon's latest MOSFET technology and innovative chip thinning process, the BTN99xx's typical path resistance at 25°C can be reduced by 47% to 5.30 mΩ while increasing the current limit to 75 A. As a result, the series is unique and cost-optimized for high-current PWM (pulse width modulated) motor drivers with very low PCB consumption.

The MOTIX BTN99xx further complements Infineon's current PORTFOLIO of MOTIX motor control ICs. The IC portfolio is somewhere between discrete gate drivers and highly integrated embedded power motor control products with Arm processors. The BTN99xx family is available in consecutive versions, BTN9970LV and BTN9990LV, both in a 7 x 8 mm HSOF-7 package.
