In 1209, King Wei Shao ascended the throne after Yan Yongji, who was weak and stupid. The Mongols joined forces with the Western Xia to attack the Jin Dynasty, and the Mongol army almost invaded the territory of the Jin Dynasty.
In 1213, after Emperor Xuanzong of Jin ascended the throne, he moved the capital to Fenjing (present-day Kaifeng) in order to escape the Mongol army. On the way to continue the southward escape, the Jin army, which had been at ease for a long time and had lost its martial spirit, could no longer defeat the Southern Song Dynasty. Soon Jin Xuanzong fell ill and died in Beijing. In 1223, Emperor Aizong of Jin ascended the throne after completing Yan Shouxu.
In 1232, the Mongol army conquered Luoyang and besieged Beijing. Emperor Aizong of Jin fled to Cai Prefecture and fell to Fenjing. In 1234, the Mongol and Southern Song armies besieged Caizhou for three months, and Emperor Aizong of Jin committed suicide and the Jin kingdom fell.
Confucianism developed even more during the Jin Dynasty, and Jin Zhangzong reached its peak. The society Shangwen, the entire Literary Circle of the Jin Dynasty, is known as the Guochao Wen School.
Taoism in the Jin Dynasty began to take shape, the most prosperous of which was the Quanzhen Sect. In the Quanzhen Sect, there are representative figures Wang Chongyang and his disciple Quanzhen Seven Sons, including Qiu Chuji and others. In the later period of the rise of Mongolia, Qiu Zhiji also went to Mongolia at the invitation of Genghis Khan, spread Taoism to Genghis Khan, and even imported the ideas of going to the violent stop killing, Ji Shi'anmin, and benevolence and filial piety into Genghis Khan's heart.
The development and prosperity of Jin Dynasty drama ushered in a brilliant era in the history of ancient Chinese opera. There are also many brick sculptures in the golden tomb that reflect theatrical culture.
