Following his election as an IEEE Fellow, Alibaba Cloud Feifei Li was promoted to a new ACM Fellow

On January 19, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) officially announced the list of ACM Fellows in 2021, and Li Feifei, vice president of Alibaba Group and head of Alibaba Cloud's intelligent database product business unit, was elected. This also means that Li Feifei has become a fellow of two top international societies at the same time, ACM (International Computer Society) and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers).

Founded in 1947, ACM is the most influential professional academic organization in the field of computing, and the Turing Award selected by ACM is recognized as the Nobel Prize in the field of computing in the world. ACM Fellow is ACM's highest honor for fellow members, recognizing scientists who have made outstanding contributions to computer-related fields.

According to the data, before joining Alibaba, Li Feifei was a tenured full professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Utah, with research interests in database systems, big data management theory and system design and development, and cloud data management security. After joining Alibaba, he led the team to develop Alibaba Cloud's enterprise-level cloud-native distributed database system, which was selected into gartner's Global Database Leader Quadrant for two consecutive years, ranking first in the world in terms of comprehensive strength.

For this selection, ACM officials said that Li Feifei has made outstanding contributions to database query processing and optimization and cloud database system.

Last November, the 2022 IEEE Fellow List was officially announced, and Feifei Li was also awarded the IEEE Fellow for his outstanding contributions to database query processing and optimization and cloud database systems.
