On the same day, a transport aircraft of the New Zealand Air Force has taken off to provide Tonga with the first batch of post-disaster relief supplies. A Spokesman for the New Zealand Foreign Office said the Tongan government agreed to the New Zealand Ministry of Defence's proposal to provide assistance in a "no-contact" manner to prevent the introduction of the new coronavirus into Tonga by New Zealand military personnel.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tonga has taken strict anti-epidemic measures to prevent the introduction of the new crown virus into the country. So far, only one imported case of COVID-19 has been detected in Tonga in October 2021. As required by the Tongan government, all travelers entering Tonga are subject to a three-week quarantine at designated facilities. (Reporter Sun Muning)
