The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism released the latest database statistics on January 19: In 2021, Shanghai held a total of 38,366 commercial performances, an increase of 24.7% over the 30,772 in 2020. The number of games is basically the same as in 2019 (38,960).

In 2021, 38366 were performed, 8894 professional theater performances, an increase of 25.6% year-on-year. There were 15,787 performances in the new performing arts space, an increase of 70% year-on-year. Other performances 13,791 (including performances in song and dance entertainment venues and performances in tourist attractions, etc.).

For this data, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism said that the number of performances can have such data, on the one hand, Shanghai is continuing to promote the development of new performing arts spaces, and by the end of 2021, the number of new spaces awarded has reached 100. On the other hand, Shanghai's cultural tourism industry has risen steadily compared with various indicators in 2020, and on the basis of adhering to the supply and demand ends, supporting enterprise bailout and innovative development, more industry entities have resumed work and production, and the operating environment has been improved. Among them, the total tourism revenue increased by about 30% over 2020, recovering to 80% in 2019, and the performance of tourist attractions such as Shanghai International Tourism Resort, including Disney, was also restored.
