I. Why did Gong Banlun burn the Yuanmingyuan for foreigners as a leader party? The outlook on life is not correct and the psychology is distorted.

Chinese emphasize that husband and wife, father and son, brother, monarch and friend are the "five luns", which is also the solid foundation of feudal society. However, Gong Gongzi did not love anyone except for his concubine who loved him the most (not his wife, so he could only be counted as half lun), so he called himself "Half Lun".
2. For money, Gong Banlun defected to sir Wittoma, the British minister stationed in Shanghai, and was "treated with courtesy".
Gong Zizhen died of illness in 1841 at the age of 49.

The robbery and arson of The Yuanmingyuan by Gong Banlun was soon known to Li Hongzhang, another great traitor, and Li Hongzhang was furious.
Coincidentally, the two soon met, and Li Hongzhang angrily pointed at Gong Banlun's nose and scolded: "You have received the favor of the country in your world, but you have played for the tiger, and you are really a traitor for eternity"!
Gong Banlun smiled very calmly and said, "I was originally a good citizen, but the way to advance was completely blocked by Er waiting, and I was also stripped of all food and clothing by corrupt officials, and finally I had to beg foreigners." Now you call me a traitor, but I see you as a thief of the country."
In a word, Li Hongzhang choked to death, which is really a debate.
However, no matter how good his eloquence is, no matter whether Li Hongzhang is good or bad, in the end he cannot change the fundamental fact that he himself is still a traitor, an accomplice, and a leading party.
Gong Zizhen, Gong Banlun, father and son, one patriotic, one traitor, one famous in history, one left a legacy for ten thousand years.
Zhao Yi, a Qing dynasty, said: "The sons of famous fathers are more defeated and virtuous", although this is not an inevitable law, but from the behavior of Gong Banlun and many rich second generations and officials today, it can also be proved that this statement has a certain truth.
Conclusion: The fate of the traitor must be tragic, which history has proved. Gong Banlun, a leader party and thief, also had a very sloppy life in his later years, living on pawns, calligraphy and painting antiques, and finally died of a mental breakdown.
