Hong Kong, January 19 (China News Service) -- Feng Guojing, vice chairman of the China-US Exchange Foundation and chairman of the Fung Group, said on the 19th that the new crown epidemic has changed the global economic landscape, and China and the United States should take the promotion of post-epidemic economic recovery as a priority for cooperation, and respond more constructively to solve bilateral trade issues in the future.
The "Hong Kong China-US Forum" was held online from January 19 to 21, and Feng Guojing made the above remarks in his speech at the opening ceremony of the forum on the 19th.
Feng Guojing believes that the degree of interdependence between the two economies of China and the United States is high. Today, the tone of high-level exchanges between China and the United States has improved significantly, and the leaders of the two countries are seriously communicating to solve substantive issues. Last November, the two sides signed the Glasgow Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 2020s, which strengthens action on climate change, a victory for multilateralism.
Feng Guojing said that today's world is facing a new situation and new challenges, if you want to find priority cooperation between China and the United States in addition to climate issues, as a businessman, you will think that it is to promote post-epidemic economic recovery and enhance the multilateral system of trade and investment.
He put forward two propositions in this regard: first, that the two countries can respond more constructively to the resolution of bilateral trade issues, and second, that the two countries jointly integrate and upgrade the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) mechanisms to better serve future changing trade and investment needs.
Feng Guojing believes that when companies do business in China and the United States today, they are facing an increasingly complex situation. Multinational enterprises operating in any country should comply with local laws and regulations, and if there are differences and contradictions in understanding each other's laws and systems, it is best to resolve them through multilateral channels.
