On January 17th, the launching ceremony of the "2020 Dubai World Expo Chinese Culture Center Art and Creativity Theme Activity - 'Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts into Dubai Expo' Theme Activity" sponsored by the Art and Design Committee of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and the Chinese Culture Center of the Dubai World Expo was held at the Changgang Campus of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.
Huang Jiancheng, Artistic Director of the Chinese Culture Center at the Dubai World Expo, said: "As far as I know, this is the first higher art school in China to appear on the international platform of the Expo as an educational institution, displaying the academic achievements of teaching and scientific research in an all-round way. The theme event of "Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Entering Dubai World Expo" is scheduled to open on January 25 at the Chinese Culture Center in Dubai, UNITED Arab Emirates.
With art education as the main line and cultural exchange as the guide, the event will tell the story of Chinese art and design on the international stage, highlight China's strength and convey the Chinese spirit by holding photo exhibitions of "Yiqi Anti-epidemic" works, "Ice Pier" design achievements exhibition, excellent teaching achievements exhibition and academic seminars.

"We have a deep relationship with the World Expo, and we have participated in the design of many pavilions in previous World Expos." According to Xie Changjing, secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Guangmei, as the earliest university in the country to explore the modern design education model of "industry, education and research", has accumulated a lot of practical experience in promoting teaching achievements to society and the world.
In 2005, relying on the "industry-university-research" platform of Jimei Design Engineering Company, Guangmei won the design and production project of the China Pavilion at the Aichi World Expo in Japan in competition with nearly 20 design units at home and abroad. At the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the Guangmei "Industry-University-Research" platform and the team of teachers and students once again showed their skills, winning the exhibition deepening design of the World Expo National Pavilion, the general contracting of the exhibition project of the Expo Theme Pavilion City People's Pavilion, the design and construction of the Shanxi Provincial Pavilion of the World Expo, and the design and production of the Zhongshan Pavilion of the World Expo City Best Practice Area, truly practicing the concept of serving the country and the society with professional ability.

The Guangmei team worked hard for 10 months, revised the plan more than 1,000 times, and the mascot "Ice Pier" created for the Beijing Winter Olympics was a highlight of the Expo exhibition. "Ice Pier" is designed and created with a panda prototype, which perfectly combines the image of the panda with the shell of the ice crystal, integrates the Characteristics of Chinese characteristics and the characteristics of winter ice and snow sports, and fully embodies the concept of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. At the launching ceremony, the MV "Hand in Hand to a Better Future" sent blessings by Guangmei people for the Beijing Winter Olympics was also played, recording the mascot creation process and showing the new era style of Guangdong youth daring to break through and fight.
